Not sure how he finds me every time
Neremyn replied to Myrthe Mysterious's topic in General Discussion Forum
Hi. Make sure you don't look like anything before, don't use the same tattoos, skins - nothing that can be a resemblance. You would be surprised how often people go for it and don't even realize it. It's also possible that he uses your name to everyone he messages and just fishes for a response. On the technical site.. You've got a new laptop - good! Now get rid of any IoT devices because they have crap security and could have been compromised - they can be used to gain foothold to your network and pivot further. Reset your router settings to default so any changes he has made are cleared. Standard DNS queries only include domain name but DoH/DoT(DNS over HTTPS/TLS) can include the full URL so if he has set his own DNS server in your router's settings, technically it's possible to find out your new name. For example, you have requested https://my.secondlife.com/myname and he can see "myname" Another thing in your router is the option to set up a VPN which can act as a man-in-the-middle and allow him to intercept traffic. It's a stretch but still in the realm of possiblities. A reset will clear it. Call your ISP and ask tell if it's safe to reset it(might require configuration afterwards, also change the router's password) or maybe they can just come to replace it. In the SL's viewer disable streaming music and media and only enable music when you are at some club. In Media tab disable "play media attached to other avatars" - this can leak your IP address. I don't think there's anything left you can do on the technical side of things. -
Can't login any of my accounts. I changed the DNS servers but the problem persists. I can access my web dashboard, though. [EDIT] Of course that the message I get is the usual generic one, and there's nothing on the GSP about it so far.

https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/5j0rbt0s8j4t Besides Germany and Denmark, you can add Portugal. This has been a recurring issue for the last month or so. Right now, and as it always happens, I can login my alt account but not my main, although both accounts use the same PC, viewer and broadband internet connection. I already changed the DNS servers but the issue persists. Due to what has been happening, I'm starting to suspect that something is very wrong with the SL login system. I mean it. Really. [EDIT] ping to login.agni.lindenlab.com is consistsent, no failures; traceroute shows normal results. [EDIT 2] This feels like I'm talking to myself. I finally logged in my main account but I'm still feeling quite aggravated by the whole thing. Last Saturday, I could only DJ at a club using my alt account. Can someone who knows more explain me why one account logs in just fine and the other can't? Sometimes, according to my timings, the issue only has disappeared next morning, "magically".

Consistent teleport failures- only in one location
Kardargo Adamczyk replied to Paul Hexem's topic in Second Life Server
Among a few issues that it could be, Its always DNS but seriously, this could be the result of a slow DNS response telling your computer on what IP Address the server lives that holds the region. you can try to open your network settings and change the ip4 settings, then change dns from automatic to manual and enter 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1 (Google & Cloudfare) as the servers, then see if the issue is resolved. -

ISP DNS issues? Try setting up CloudFlare or Google DNS: https://www.cloudflare.com/en-gb/learning/dns/what-is-1.1.1.1/ https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns- 22,999 replies

I've been trying to log into SL for the last two days and I keep getting this error message. I don't know what happened. I didn't change any settings or anything. I was able to log in fine with no issues at all until 2 days ago. I've tried: Resetting the modem and router Changing the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Restarting my computer Checking my network and firewall settings Seriously, this is starting to upset me a great deal because it just happened so suddenly. Everything was fine up until 2 days ago. Please, help me. Anyone.

Having this same issue. Only started today. Happens on all accounts and what ever sim I select to land at. Immediately upon clicking login, it gives me the Login failed despite out best efforts etc. dialogue box. Tried restarting PC, rebooting router, flushing DNS, clearing cache and even reinstalling firestorm. Nothing has worked. Edit: Theory is that LindenLabs.com is blocking my IP address for some reason? Guess have to wait for my dynamic IP to change for it to fix itself? 😩

I recently purchased an item called Prim-DNS Server which creates a mini web server on your land(which is perfect for what i'm looking to do with it). However, I'm finding it difficult to display internal images with it and was curious if anyone had any experience with this or could point me in the right direction. The main file uses xhtml format however there's no way to refrence an uploaded image by name or UUID. I did attempt to reach out to the creator but never heard back. Thanks to anyone in advance, Logan

Consistent teleport failures- only in one location
Love Zhaoying replied to Paul Hexem's topic in Second Life Server
Why would a DNS issue affect only 1 account? Just wondering! I assume @Paul Hexem meant he logs into multiple accounts from the same PC with the same network settings, and only one account has issues. -
Grid status link is just above this thread, the second link from the end on the right side.. These are the two i grabbed from there.. =============================================================================================================================== In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary. Jan 15, 2024 - 06:00 PST Scheduled - Phone and live chat support will be unavailable on Monday, January 15, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Ticket submissions will still be available at this time. Jan 15, 2024 06:00-15:00 PST =============================================================================================================================== Update - Intermittent routing issues may be affecting some Residents. Alternative routing options, such as VPNs or alternate DNS providers, may prove helpful in circumventing network routing problems. We are continuing to investigate this matter. Please follow this blog for further updates. Jan 10, 2024 - 10:25 PST Investigating - We are aware that some Residents are having connectivity and login issues, with higher rates of issues in certain regions of Europe (but not limited to these areas alone). While we investigate, it may be helpful to try basic network troubleshooting tips such as restarting your computer, router, or wifi access point, as well as updating your DNS provider or clearing your DNS cache. Try what is suggested on the Grid Status, which is use different DNS servers than you have set at the moment. I had that problem a couple days ago. I couldn't login my main account but could enter with my alt. After talking with Support (they said it's a known issue but there is no ETA for a fix) I changed from Google's DNS servers to my own ISP's DNS, and it's been fine so far.

nothing, I have done everything, I have tried 3 different viewers in addition to the official LL one and nothing. Yesterday it worked perfectly for me. They have changed my IP, DNS, I have tried everything it says and absolutely nothing happens. 😭😭

DNS chains are silently followed and wouldn't cause this problem (ignoring TLS cert validation for the moment). If you run your search query through a 'curl' command such as: curl --http1.1 -v -L -o /dev/null 'https://search.secondlife.com?query_term=Galadriel%27s&search_type=standard&collection_chosen=events&maturity=gma' you will see the sequence of visits that are made as the request gathers state information into cookies. There are a number of possible reasons for llHttpRequest failing on this: cookie management during the request redirect count (3xx codes) other limits (header length, response body length)

Monty Linden I think the search.secondlife.com is either a NAME Index for a URL in a redirect or a similar DNS service that does the same this is why it returns no files as this is a phantom entry.. Can you provide the proper search URL please and not a Named IDX or similar service? As I think this is most likely what i transpiring. Such as in .htaccess RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.secondlife.com/search$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ search.secondlife.com//$1 [L,R=301] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^search.secondlife.com/search$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ www.secondlife.com/new search item/$1 [L,R=301] Where www.secondlife.com/new search item is your different URL can you provide it? Thanks Virtuakitten Thank you for your kind reply. We are currently paying 200L every single event a month this is expensive and thought we could get at these events inside second life. Which there seems no reason why not! Have already tried limiting response this below which returns same 499. using it without http o https says its not available. This was providing a response of on on saying it returned noting integer bodylength= 2048; url = "http://search.secondlife.com/?query_term=Galadriel%27s&search_type=standard&collection_chosen=events&maturity=gma "; http_request_id = llHTTPRequest(url, [HTTP_METHOD,"GET",HTTP_USER_AGENT, "LSL_Script(Mozilla Compatible)", HTTP_MIMETYPE, "application/x-www-form-urlencoded", HTTP_VERIFY_CERT,FALSE, HTTP_BODY_MAXLENGTH,bodylength], ""); The full source code is here :

the first thing I would try is to change the DNS server from Acquire automatically (from your ISP) to Google DNS a how to do this on Windows 11 is here: https://www.howtogeek.com/767564/how-to-change-dns-servers-on-windows-11/ if this doesn't help then is most likely that your ethernet card is not synching properly with your router. I had this issue when I switched to fibre on Windows 10. Fix was to update my ethernet card driver

Very slow server internet performance
Monty Linden replied to NightDragons's topic in Second Life Server
One thing to keep in mind: content like meshes and textures do not come directly from Linden. These are supplied by a CDN with PoPs (Points-of-Presence) around the world. Not all of these perform as well as they should. And we have seen cases where an ISP attempts to hijack the CDN using DNS. They then point the CDN's DNS names to their 'optimized' caching system which is then found to be both buggy and slow. This hijacking problem can be avoided by using a more trusted DNS server (8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1, etc.). -
so when I asked about cloud flare above I wanted to know what it was doing because sometimes I bounce between google's DNS and Cloud Flare's. seems like most viewers are effected but what I personally seem to notice is when I'm on idle at my property or at a store, last night I was on from 6:30 PM to 1:30 AM SLT and had no problem, before making this comment about 10 minutes ago I was logged out with the black and white screen, I logged back in came to the forum and while idle it same thing, for me it seems to happen more when on a flat idle. I am using firestorm, tried the second life viewer and same thing like others have reported. right now I'm back on google's DNS, Cleared Cache, restarted hotspot, computer and tweaked some settings in firestorm and nothing. hope in some way I helped, hang in there everyone! ❤️

Today, I have had repeated failures. Sometimes 2 or 3 attempts are enough; other times it might take 5 or more. Keep banging on the door, and it will eventually open. @Monty Linden these are not DNS lookup failures but timeouts in the curl request. 2023-12-19T00:38:42Z WARNING #CoreHttp# llcorehttp/_httppolicy.cpp(403) LLCore::HttpPolicy::stageAfterCompletion : HTTP request 000001EEF4197E40 failed after 0 retries. Notably, I am seeing no issues with any other connectivity outside of SL. if you haven't played since Windows 7 (now have Windows 10 or 11) then could be a problem with your ethernet card driver. Some of the older ethernet card manufacturers released an update when Windows 10 came out also try changing your DNS server from Acquire automatically (from your ISP) to Google DNS if you haven't already

When I try to get into Second Life from any viewer (SL, Firestorm, Black Dragon) I am getting the following error message. "Login failed. DNS could not resolve the host name(login.agni.lindenlab.com). Please verify that you can connect to the www.secondlife.com web site. If you can, but continue to receive this error, please go the support section and report this problem." I am not able to access secondlife.com from any browser either. I have cleared cache in the browser, (Chrome and Edge) and I have flushed DNS cache via the command prompt as an administrator and nothing is working. Somehow I can access this forum.. I am not sure why. I can access other websites such as google.com. I am not able to log a ticket in secondlife.com right now so I am hoping someone here may be able to help. If anyone has any guesses as to what may be happening, I would so appreciate your insight.
