Need some intermediate level advice on using Firestorm AO to achieve:

  • Random play of stand animation and hand motions. The hand motions would need to be much rare and not trigger immediately when I stand.
  • Custom Dances. My character is an awkward dancer and I would love to be able to show that off with custom collection of dances. The way I see it, I put all dancing animations into a separate list as Standing, and just switch to it and stay still. Is there any better wayto achieve that?

as far i know the Firestorm AO only handles one animation at a time, so seperate handmoves will be just that, and not play together with stands. To have that the stand and hands have to be in one animation.

For dancing it's much easier to use a dance hud, or simply use the dance animation itself if it's long enough.

The Firestorm AO is not really a dancehud ...just AO for the normal avatar moves. You can't trigger a dancemode as easy as a hud. Big + on huds is that they often allow you to invite others to dance with you.

Yes, you can drag/drop your dances into the FS AO and give it a name like 'Dance'. Just click on the down arrow next to the AO names and pick 'Dance' to dance.  You can tick the cycle or randomize order at the bottom of the box as you like.  Works great.

ETA:  I haven't used a chimera or dance HUD ever since the built-in AO became available.

The FS AO is actually a pretty good dance hud. Just drop your dances into the Stands category and let it run. You can have it cycle automatically or manually select them with the left and right arrows at the bottom to suit your needs. Or if your dances have a high enough priority to override the ground sits, drop them into ground sits and dance the night away while "sitting".

The downside is that, like mentioned above, it cannot overlap animations the way a scripted HUD can. If you need multiple animations to play at once, then it's still best to use your old fashioned HUDs.
