Get rid of old username

After I changed my username how do I get rid of the old username below it?

You changed your display name, not your user name. The only way to change your user name is to create a new account.

You can hide your user name (and everyone else's) by going to Preferences (Ctrl+P) and un-checking user name in the General tab. Other people will still be able to see your user name if they wish.

You changed your display name.  User names are permenant to each account.  You can choose to hide it on your display in the General tab in Preferences.  But, that won't effect how others see it, as they get to choose what they see as well. ()y
