Avatar Recommendations

I am returning to SL after a few years away and, oh man, are there a lot of changes!

I'm looking for recommendations for a high quality avatar that I can modify a bit to somewhat match my RL appearance... any suggestions?

Go look around for a while, and don't pick one before you are used a bit again and seen all changes.

Mesh is hot, but many still use the old trusted SL shape and skin, and still look good!

How long have you been away and how long were you here before?  Have you tried getting your old account back?  Linden Lab can help if you don't remember your password or even if you deleted your account when you left.

Yeah, that leave it wide open.  My honest opinion is to google up "Mesh Body Addicts" and visit that site.  They have reviews on many mesh bodies  and parts that are available including photos and comments on using their controls.  Pick what you find interesting and go pick up a demo in world.  When it comes to mesh keep this  in mind: No Demo; No Sale.  motto

Giving links to external sites will usually cause the post be moderated.  Giving recommendations to specific stores may also cause a post to e whisked off to the cornfields.  However, different mesh bodies are desigened for different looks.  If you let us know more about what you want to look like we could tell you what fits the objective.

try demos before you decide, there's a lot of difference in apearance! If there's no demo available, don't buy!

You can't really buy a complete avatar (except for a few obvious exclusions, but since you said you want it to look like you, I assume its a human avatar we are talking about). So you have to piece it together. But "high quality" is also not very descriptive, as you can piece together any look imagineable with parts that are quite good. And we also do not know how you look or if you want to get mesh bodyparts and if so, which....and so on.
