How can a Linux user stop viewer's forced updates?

There was an additional comment added to the jira, after your comment there, which provides 2 ways to accomplish it:

"Open a terminal. Then look where your viewer is placed. Type the path to the viewer and add the --channel NoUpdate e.g (for me it is: /home/mylinuxusername/bin/Second_Life_3_7_28_300847_i686/secondlife --channel NoUpdate

then press enter. 

 

Another way is to edit the menu entry of your Desktop and add the --channel NoUpdate there."
