What does it look like? I'm having a hard time visualizing a "hovering search bar".  Can you add a photo to your post?

All windows can be contracted to a single line with the minimize icon in the upper right, that looks like an underline character, _.

They can be expanded with the icon next to that, that looks like a square.

They can be closed entirely with the icon next to that, that looks like an X.

They can be repositioned by putting your mouse over the top portion of the window and dragging it.

Just like any other window on your computer.

This is how it looks on my screen.

Thanks.  That's not just a "hovering search bar".  Your entire Search window is open and it is somehow slid up far enough that it's partly behind the menu bar at the top of your screen.  As a result, you can't see the little "X" in the upper right corner that you need for closing it. You can't even drag it down with your mouse because you can't see the top bar the grab it.  So..... try this.  Open your Advanced menu. ( If you don't see your Advanced menu, type CTRL + Alt + D to make it appear on your menu bar.)  Then click on Debug Settings.  Use its dropdown menu to scroll down until you find floater_pos_search_y.  Change that setting to -1.4 and close the window.  That should move the open window downwad and put it roughly in the center of your screen.  If it doesn't, you may need to relog to see the change.  Once the window is recentered, you should be able to click the "X" to close it.
