Hi Remi,

It sounds like you may be in a space designed for tinies, in a space not really designed to hold an avatar (like inside a bit of landscaping, rather than on top of it), or you're wearing something that extends the collision volume of your avatar so much that you don't fit in standard SL structures. When you stand, this can cause your avatar to either be pushed into the ground by the ceiling, or if the center of your avatar is above the center of the ceiling, you'll be ejected from the room and placed on the roof.

If you're wearing some sort of mesh avatar, you might try switching to a classic avatar. If your avatar is very tall, try playing with the shape sliders on a copy of your shape. If you're visiting a space designed for small avatars, you'll have to acquire one. If you're exploring areas not really intended for avatars, this is expected behavior.

If you're only having a problem with your feet sinking into the ground, you can adjust your hover height. Right-click on your avatar and select "Hover Height" from the options.

Good luck!
