Question

Why does shiny new official Viewer 3 install with an icon that says "Viewer 2" and in the old v2 folder? (e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\SecondLifeViewer2\SecondLife.exe" ). Is this an indication of the careful debugging that's being going on during the year lost to mesh? Or is it just Linden's way of telling us, "same sh1t, different number"?

The Lab is playing fast and loose with their version numbering. "Viewer 3.0" is just 2.8x with mesh viewing/uploading built in. For some reason they completely skipped 2.9.

I'm guessing (cynical fennec that I am) that the marketing types figured that it they slapped a new name on v2 it would overcome the bad reputation... :smileywink:
