Question

If I wanted to build a simple skybox with the outer walls or "shell" scripted to prevent anyone on the outside of the box from being able to hear the conversation going on by avatars on the inside of the box, how would I do that? I guess what I'm asking for here is a script guru to give me a script formula for it. If it is even possible, that is. Thanks :)

It doesn't take a script...and I don't think a script could do it, anyway.

  • Subdivide a parcel on your land that is just larger than your skybox.  (This step is optional.  If your land is small to start with, skip it.)
  • Place the skybox on the small parcel.  Elevate it to its final placement.
  • Stand on the parcel.  Right click the ground, open About Land.  (alternative:  Use the World menu > Parcel details).
  • Look in the Options tab.  Uncheck the box that says "avatars outside this parcel can see/hear avatars inside the parcel."

You cannot script a skybox to prevent people outside hearing local chat inside. You can set your parcel so that people outside the parcel cannot see or hear people inside, and set the parcel so people outside cannot enter, that's about it.
