what is better Amd Radeon or Nvidia? I am looking at a pc with nvidia gtx560 or one with Radeo 7470?

Hello Lisa and welcome to SL Forums. Your question is so general. Some residents (like me) prefer Nvidia, some others Amd. If you have in your mind specific series you can post them here and we will try to help you.  Basically most graphics card a year or two old from either ATI or NVIDIA will run SL, but as usually the newer the better.

Take LoveAngels advice and find a few you like the sound of and come back for advice specific to the cards.

I can only add that while there used to be issues with AMD/ATI cards in the past, they seem to be supported much better these days. A while ago, I don't think it was possible to get shadows from a AMD card, but you could using a Nvidia card. These days both can do shadows. Other issues that used to affect AMD cards seems to be gone as well.

But I'm no expert, so perhaps someone else can provide better information on these things...

Nvidia GTX560M is a class1 graphics card. You won't have any problem to run SL. On the other side, radeon 7470M in fact is a rename version of radeon HD 6490M, a class2 card (similar performance with nvidia GT300 series), for entry level to middle class laptops. Between them Nvidia is better.
