When I try to look at an avatar that is on the sim somewhere, if they're not standing beside me, all i see is the area and not the avatar itself, what setting do I have that is not set right? This effect would occur with a parcel "privacy" setting on the land, in which case everybody would see it the same way on that land. If, on the other hand, only you are seeing it, and you're seeing it everywhere, then yeah, it would be some viewer setting (for which I don't have anything immediately useful to suggest, but someone else will).
