Chrina
I'm not able to use the search function in the game. I've tried it on both my accounts and cannot get it to work. Tried support, but they were useless even to then giving me a random message that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. When I go to the search function, all it shows is a grey box. My computer is WAY advanced (usually people blame it on the computer) it's a MSI GT70 gaming laptop. Everything should be up to date.

The only thing I can think of is maybe there's something in the preferences that not allowing you to search. Check the settings in there.
Chrina
It took me forever to even figure out how to post here to begin with.
Griffin Ceawlin
Do you have cookies and javascript enabled in Preferences?
Nyll Bergbahn
Check that you have the latest versions of Flash, Javascript and Quicktime installed. Even if you use IE and not Mozilla's FIrefox, this page will quickly show you if Flash, Javascript and Quicktime are up to date on your computer. You can ignore Silverlight and Windows Media. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ If not up to date, see links below. Flash: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html Step 1 will tell you if installed, Steps 2 & 3 will show if latest version and Step 4 will install latest version if not. Javascript; http://www.java.com/en/ Quicktime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ but note http://support.apple.com/kb/DL837 if you are a Pro 6 user. Ensure Enable plugins, Accept cookies and Enable javascript are ticked in Preferences > Setup. They should be by default.

Rowan Amore
The official SL viewer from the SL website or a 3rd party viewer such as Firestorm?
Aishagain
All the above leads me to suggest that it is your firewall or antivirus programme that is blocking the executeable file that is used here...I think it maybe "dullahan-host.exe" it is either being blocked by the AV or by your computer firewall. Usually during installation te setup wizard asks you to enable access for this and several others. If it is blocked or even removed most things work except search and few related applications within SL. You will need to redownload and reinstal the viewer making particular note of the requests for access. Only download viewers for repuatable websites such as Second Life or Firestorm (or the other 3rd party viewers listed in the Third Party Viewer list. ETA: To my knowledge updating Flash, Java or Apple's Quicktime is not required and has not been for some time. Advice for Antivirus white listing is as follows, second line on is applicable for all viewers, first line will depend in whichever viewer you are using. Otherwise the name of the viewer will replace Firestorm after C:\Program Files\ The Files you need to add: C:\Program Files\Firestorm-Releasex64\Firestorm-releasex64.exe C:\Program Files\Firestorm-Releasex64\slvoice.exe C:\Program Files\Firestorm-Releasex64\slplugin.exe C:\Program Files\Firestorm-Releasex64\llplugin\dullahan_host.exe Edited April 2, 2023 by Aishagain additional info
