In addition to ChinRey's correct advice, the reason most users don't use the Camera Controls floater is that there's ways to use the keyboard to control the camera.

These replace the functionalty of the Camera Controls and are quite quick to learn:-

  • Zoom in: Ctrl+0
  • Zoom out: Ctrl+8
  • Zoom reset:Ctrl+9
  • Orbit camera: Alt+Left Mouse+Drag
  • Pan camera: Alt+Ctrl+Left Mouse+Drag
  • Rotate camera: Alt+Ctrl+Shift+Left Mouse+Drag

You might also find this video tutorial useful. Even though it's a little old now, many of the keyboard controls are the same.

Do you need it at all? Like most SL'ers I closed the camera control window within the first month here and never opened it again but if I remember correctly, it didn't have any useful functions once I figured out the keyboard shortcuts.

Are you certain about the "most?"  I still use the camera controls.  :)

But to answer the specific question, unless you want to do a lot of programming, in the Official Viewer there is no way to resize it.   But many third party viewers do allow you to.
