Tina Jowisz
I am in UK and when I use voice with my friends in USA, there seems to be around 2 seconds delay in our conversations. I hear a pause, i start to speak, then they speak. It makes it seem like I am talking over them. Can this be resolved?
Freya Mokusei
Not... unless you move closer to them or upgrade your networking cables (this includes those outside the house). Electrical signals are beholden to the laws of physics. The longer the distance, the longer it takes to traverse. This, combined with slow networking speeds (average in the UK is ~3.5Mbit/s) means longer delays when communicating over long distances. You could try to improve your connection speed, and maybe see some performance gain. As one example, it helps if you're not sharing the line with anyone else, or downloading torrents, etc. Additionally, the voice system is operated by Vivox, Second Life isn't responsible for its performance, even if it could be resolved. Hope this helps! For more specific advice, add the results of a speedtest to your next reply.

Let's hope they've fixed that in Sansar: http://www.universetoday.com/33752/device-makes-radio-waves-travel-faster-than-light/ It's not exactly rocket science ... it's far more complicated than that. Radio waves are fun, but electronic signals are seemingly tied to Einsteinian Physics for some time yet.

Once they came up with the brane theory most of the pieces fell into place and it's quite easy now. Except for time of course. Still no explanation for that and it may not exist. Callum Meriman
The ping time between the UK and the US and back is about a quarter of a second (250ms or so). There is only one solution. Patience. (well, and saying "sorry, you go on" a lot) ChinRey wrote: Freya Mokusei wrote: It's quantum science! The most confusing of all the science. Used to be the most confusing. They have just discovered nuclei with pear shapes that all point in the direction of time. Time exists and it can only travel forwards. http://www.sciencealert.com/physicists-just-discovered-a-new-nucleus-shape-and-it-could-ruin-our-hopes-of-time-travel

The whole universe has gone pear shaped!!! Callum Meriman wrote: The ping time between the UK and the US and back is about a quarter of a second (250ms or so). That's back and forth, right? So 125 ms ping time gives 250 ms delay? That sounds about right. Where I live I have a ping timeto UK around 90-100 ms and ping time to SL in USA (through UK) around 220-250 ms. Of course, that's only the time it takes for the singal to travel across the U.S. continent, through the roadblocks on the east coast of USA and across the Atlantic. There are delays everywhere else on the line too so I'm not surprised if it adds up to a second or two.
