HI everyone.

I am working in Zbrush and I think I am at my wits end.

Everytime I go to ALPHA / Make 3D and set a resoultion for my alpha

the resulting 3D model polgon count is way too high. I did turn down the resoultion

but then it makes the 3d model look all grainy.

So I can make a nice smooth model if I turn up the resolution to like 300 or above

but it makes a 40k polgon model. Second Life says it exceeds the 65k limit.

Uggggg. Any help out there?

JD

You don't use models straight out of ZBrush in a real time environment like Second Life. The ZBrush highpoly detail is baked into a normal map on a lowpoly mesh.

Only because of the limit in SL is 64k, doesn't mean you should upload such heavy meshes.

Well, it's the nature of a sculpting program to work with high res geometry. You can retopologize the mesh manually in a 3D modeling, or a dedicated retopo app.

You could also run ZBrushs Decimation Master, ZRemesher afterwards, but these would still be to highpoly to be final game ready assets in most cases.
