Is multiplication!

  • 30 * 30 = 900 = 900m^2(sqm)

So no, 30 * 30 is not the same as 3072. 3072 could be made up of lots of options, for example:-

  • 3072 = 1536 * 2
  • 3072 = 768 * 4
  • 3072 = 384 * 8
  • Etc.

The land can be at any scale ratio (it may not even be a rectangle/square), you're best off teleporting to the land and looking for yourself to be sure your plans will fit.

Freyda is spot on. It's all about the math.

Remember the smallest unit of measure in the SecondLife grid is the 4m x 4m parcel also known as a 16 square meter parcel . This means all dimensions are dividable by 4. So as much as you'd like to have one, you couldn't have a 30m x 30m parcel  32m x 32m no problem!

Extra Credit: I love irregular shaped parcels that use the sawtooth patterning to achieve a diagonal parcel effect.
