DON'T!  EEK!  Nobody resets their inventory!!

Your inventory contains everything you buy, are given, or make in Second Life.  Over time, it can grow very large.  Mine is over 55,000 items at the moment.  Inventory is kept on the Linden Lab servers, so even if you use a different computer or yours dies, your Stuff will be unaffected.

However...

Your computer does have a local inventory cache on its hard drive.  Occasionally, this can become corrupted.  The usual symptom of this is "missing" inventory items.  If you are experiencing this, what you want to do is called "clearing cache", not "resetting inventory."

You can set your cache to clear from within the viewer, but I recommend doing it manually.  Follow the instructions here: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_cache_clear  This is written for the Firestorm viewer, but it applies to the stock Linden Lab viewer as well.  Just replace the word "firestorm" in the instructions with "secondlife".
