When I created this account I really enjoyed playing Tringo. When I created this av my goal was to create a funky dancing fat man that would pop up between Tringo matches and strut his funky stuff, mainly for my own entertainment but it turned out profitable as I kept getting tips. As Gorky was one of the available surnames on a reasonably short list, I thought it would work great with the name Porky, which is obviously a splendid name for a dancing fat man. About a month after that I decided to use Porky to open Hydro Homes and to do business instead and left my Tringo dancing days behind me.

Glad you got off the train. :)

Joined when public beta opened. Was too busy with RL and computer couldn't really handle it. Never saw anyone when I logged in. When I did see someone we didn't have much to talk about. Joined again in 2004 only to find that account was erased in mysterious circumstances. Think they said everyone who didn't log in after six months got erased. Joined again in 2006 this time went pay they told me then it wouldn't get erased.

Every time I logged in there were problems like everyone wearing words all over their avatar. Had trouble learning to walk and fly and didn't like looking at my butt. Teleported where I saw dots or where people gave me a map name and landed in some weird places like a dungeon with people going ooo ee ahhh. Met two girls there that were actually nice and chatted a while. I think they gave me some stuff and landmarks. Back then everybody gave out freebies to wear and the freebies were legal. When SL was first born people made a lot of freebies to give out that way the upload didn't cost them anything.

In those days I wore a supermodel shape someone gave me and a pink leopard hot pants and midriff top and boots outfit and red system hair. Hideous but I felt so attractive LOL.

Oh fast forward to today I have a small shop with flowers and gifts but I am too lazy to update it very much. And I am busy in RL again. I am from the Middle of America and now live in the West somewhere. I hope that is worth reading. :D

Where are you from?

Lancashire England

When did you join SL originally?

Joined April 2004 (9 years this April)  Personally, I think some kind of ceremony is in order..Perhaps a virtual crowning by LLs CEO..who ever that is these days, I have no idea!

What have you mainly spent your time doing in SL in the past?

2004 - 2006 Reverse engineering textures I found online

2008 - 2011 Battling with a three year pre meditaded hate campaign and RL stalking situation. (I won but it cost me a small fortune in legal fees!)

2009 - Present Date: I make KICK ASS textures. Like all day.

**Bragging Rights** TRU Textures Ltd  is going to be featured in the "3D Artist" magazine next edition :D

How are you planning to spend your time in SL in 2013?

Try to maintain some kind of income... hanging by my fingernails!

*Waves at Porky... we MUST chat sometime young man! In SL terms, we're practically related!

When I started here I had zero design skills, so am completely self taught. Back then I relied heavily on texture stores like TRU and nearly all my textures were pre bought. Jesus, you got a fortune out of me!

I remember in 2005/2006 you spotted a copy of one of my prefabs somewhere and IM'ed me ask me where I had purchased the window textures. I had made them, they were some of my first and you then complemented me on how good they were, and I was like, all overcome with pride and wot not as I had big respect for your work and overall skills. Fanboy :matte-motes-big-grin:

I don't remember ever talking to you inworld again after that. I have spoken to you a few times on the forums over the years and I remember leaving a comment on your blog a few years ago as I could see you were going to through a creative lull and was being sucked into EVE Online. I warned you of the addictive perils of EVE and how it sucks up your creative time. Hopefully you dodged that bullet.

Considering we are too of the oldest users left in SL im surprised our paths have not crossed more often!

As for my name, I have no regrets. I built a reputation off of it back in the boom years and there are still a few people left around here who know who I am and what I have achieved here.

I love your name. I always assumed you started here as a pole dancer or something and then ended up with the most successful texture brand in SL using a porn type name. That always amused me. :matte-motes-big-grin:

LOL OMG if you knew me for real you would laugh as hard as I am right now in relation to the thought of me Pole Dancing! "No Sex please. We're British"

If I contacted you about window textures I would be amazed if I didn't offer to buy the resell rights for them back then...I had NO skill in the way of texture creation in 2004 - 2006...very few people did...98% of texture stores in SL were literally people selling what they found on line...and yes that included mine too.

We learn by example. I went to what was THE SL texture store (TU) and thought "I want a huge texture store like this too" so I did what that store and indeed every texture store on the grid did...I Google them.

I was dabbling with edits and modifies but  did not have the skill to create true game textures and so I purchased them from builders etc

The crap hit the fan when ppl recognised them and I was told that they were ripped game textures. I had paid 150K Linde Dollars for those! Anyway,  I had to totally wipe the slate clean and start over and I am glad I did. It taught me to grow up and take things a lot more seriously. I had to seprate myself from the "Google texture stores"

That was many years ago now and whilst there are still texture stores selling nothing but Google clip art on the SLMP,  there are also superb talented artists and companies in SL now and they paved the way for those who want to get serious and ethical.

In short, SL has grown up.

in 2004 no one understood copyright, why would they? Its not something we learn in schools and unless you work within the industry already, its just a word we see on the back of a DVD cover. And only a tiny % of SL'ers had 2D experience.. its hard to imagine now, but that's exactly what it was like.

RE: My name.

I came from There.com.. was sent a "free pass" from Linden Labs via email...so I created an account...saw Filth was there and it amused me...I had no intentions of sticking around...I was just seeing what it was like.. hindsight is a **bleep** :)

Where are you from? Germany, near the dutch border.

When did you join SL originally? June 2009, followed by a 2 year hiatus.  Came back in April 2012

What have you mainly spent your time doing in SL in the past? Mostly travelling / sightseeing, which I still do.

How are you planning to spend your time in SL in 2013?  Cleaned out my parcel, added the one in front of
the existing parcel and started rebuilding everything from front to back, beginning with converting an
old Telehub building into an infopoint, offering some free stuff, useful landmarks and informational notecards.

( No sandbox there, I don't want to invite griefers.)
Plus, I will dive headon into LSL-scripting. especially automated vehicles.
( The infopoint is here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Patagonia/243/163/36 )

Where are you from?
- Архангельск, which is pronounced "Arkhangel'sk" in northern Arkhangelskaya Province, Russia.

When did you join SL originally?
- 2005

What have you mainly spent your time doing in SL in the past?
- Aviation, various mapping projects and construction of my varied residential spaces over the years.  I have also used Second Life to make friends in various countries.  Some of which I have been fortunate enough to meet.

How are you planning to spend your time in SL in 2013?
- If 2013 is much like 2012 was, I most likely will spend little time in Second Life.  When I am online I can usually be found at the location of my home or becoming cumbersome to the LDPW staff for road issues :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
