DUPLICATE POST

Please do not create a new post. You won't get an answer any faster and it pushes other people's questions down the list and they may not get answers as quickly as they would otherwise.  That is not fair to other users.

Edit your original post instead if you want to add to it. You can edit your post to add additional information by logging in to the web site, going to the post you want to edit, then clicking "Options" at the top right of the post and choosing edit.

Hi Rolf,

LL updates that blog when there's something to report. They reported unscheduled maintenance at the time they started it. They reported the completion of that maintenance a little less than four hours later. What should they have posted between those two events?

I understand that people want to get into SL, but I see no value in LL posting meaningless updates, only to be scorned for updating the blog when nothing has changed.

Public Service Announcement:

The world will not end if we are not able to log into Second Life. I repeat, the world will not end. Any company has issues with things, no one is perfect. There will always be times when SL is down, there are RL things to do while we wait for it to come back up. :)

Perhaps the blog should have a rotating hourglass, or a swirly circle, or whataver the current "windows is busy" cursor is. You know, so we know something is actually happening. Except, nine times out of ten, it seems to mean that windows has crashed and doesn't know what else to do.

Or even a status bar, yeah, with a slowly filling-up colour... which gets progressively slower as it nears the end, thus taking an infinite time to actually finish... and you reboot.

Simplest of all, how about the time remaining counter that you get when copying a large folder from one HD to another... you know, the ones that start, "15 minutes remaining" and you go to get a coffee. On your return ten minutes later, it says "25 minutes remaining", so you make a snack and eat it, and log in to SL for a chat or whatever. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the message update to, "4 hours and 30 minutes remaining". So you go to bed, and cross your fingers that it's done by morning, and doesn't crash.

...or, maybe just update the blog when there's something to say...

:D
