Sploders requiring skill to play (whatever that means..one on Marketplace suggests being the last in to play being skill) as distinct from being random are a somewhat grey murky area and I suggest you google 'Second Life are sploders legal' and read the various threads and discussions. Dilbert Dilweg Posted April 11, 2012 Share Posted April 11, 2012 the skill sploder that I use, uses trigger times. you right click on the sploder and get your pay window ready. when it flashes. everyone triggers the pay and pays the set price to enter, the faster you are on the trigger. the more you make in winnings You can find "legal sploders" by searching for that very term on MP .. Mirsoul Posted April 11, 2012 Share Posted April 11, 2012 A Sploder that gives the option of contributing or not contributing, counts down randomly and then "explodes" distributing the lindens randomly is not gambling. It is basically giving away the lindens, with no skill required, no entry fee necessary and no set rules or regulations on how the lindens are distributed (sort of like a Pinata). While it may be considered a game of chance, it does not require any entry fee or contribution unless you choose to. No one is excluded as long as they are within the range of the event. No details of the device given but the photo shows you have to pay 5L minimum to join it. For it to be legal, it must be based on skill. This 1 club where my sister DJs has one .. the club owner adds $L then bugs every1 dancing to add $L .. if 1 person hasnt added $L he will bug you to do so .. once every1 has added $L the sploder goes off & some ppl get more than they paid in but most ppl only get 1$L even if theyve added 20$L or 50$L .. so my sister & i started adding up how much was paid in2 the sploder & how much was paid out .. the sploder only pays out 80% or whats paid in2 it .. i guess the club owner gets 20% each time .. this is why he bugs ppl to play the sploder .. its a scam .. so after the 1st evening @ the club i stopped putting $L in2 the sploder .. the club owner bugged me about it but once he saw that i wasnt going to play he just started ignoring me .. he wasnt rude but he wasnt all friendly like he had been @ 1st .. my advice: dont fall for the sploder scam !! Generally speaking: I played some of them, and it's definitely not skill. Some boards still were a loss even though I completely cleared it but the score was not enough still for a payout. All the time it's simply sheer luck that the squares you click on have a good point value beneath, no luck involved, it's more like the lottery. I bet so. Why wouldnt they turn a blind eye? They shut down gambling, the sim folds & LL doesnt rake in tier. I bet no1 h8ed the ban on internet gambling worse than LL execs. I doubt the Lindens tour around looking for Sploders but if one gets ARd, especially by a few people, maybe they do investigate. Saying last in to win the money is skill rather than chance seems somehat dubious in my eyes but maybe it's fine. I used to like sploders way back in 2006 and early 2007 but they hold no interest for me now and certainly would not draw me in to a club but I'm sure many people do enjoy playing them and they are valued by some club owners. I thought you'd be interested to know that the silly way you write words, which makes it a little harder for people to read because those words have to be interpreted, is off-putting. Marigold Devin Posted April 12, 2012 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I look on this type of sploder as being like a raffle, and I've been to loads of places where these bring a lot of fun to a party, as well as raising a bit of money for the venue owner. It could be argued that it is gambling, just as much as buying a raffle ticket is gambling, but the skill is where you choose your moment to buy a raffle ticket/click on the sploder to add your name/lindens to it.
