Pretty much no. We have what we signed up for. If you want another name you will need to make a new avatar. Items will not be transferable .

But its assumable, that they want users to be able to easily identiy other users. Changeable usernames could open a big door for harasement. Because there must be something stopping LL from offering paid username changes. They could make so much money from it.

The inability to change names is completely correct, imo. The ability to create new alts is bad enough for some people, and being able to quickly change names would be much worse - and it would open the door to a great deal more negative stuff.
