Surely Lindens are not now allowing pornographic content on shops in marketplace, even adult rated is surely virtual reality rated and not real life images of porn, removed link but its there  and will pass link to a linden if they are interested in removing it

Yes, the adult rating specifically includes real life images. "Photo-realistic means that an image either is or cannot be distinguished from a photograph."

Yes, controversial content is specifically encouraged. "Take a walk on the wild side. It's a fact of life — controversial things sell."

There is one restriction on the marketplace, only digital content that can be used with SL is allowed, physical goods are prohibited. Things like images and online video definitely can be used inworld.

also inworld is another matter but the more that lindens allow cross publicity with the rest of the web then thses things seep onto search engines and are then picked up by young innocent people, Its not that I dont approve an adult rating but not at the expense of innocent kids on the web, the search tags that are used means these images are picked up and thrown out onto the web and not always stopped by parental control

Violence is worse imo.  Parents have their kids start with very violent video games at a very early age.

About all you can do is set some type of parental control on your computer.

Other than parental controls, all I can think of is for someone to create a browser just for kids, but all websites would have to be rated so that children's browser will connect to only G rated websites for an example.  I don't know if that would work, but it might.

Uh, kids were passing around parents Playboy type magazines when I was a kid, or whatever they could get ahold of that parents had in their house with nudity, and we didn't turn out damaged in any way from pictures of nudity.

Is violence worse.  Studies have said so.  Random school shootings.  Anyone?  Hello?   Parents need to monitor their own kids internet time or block websites under tools.

I don't want the internet censored after the censoring I'm dealing with right now in another thread...so I say poopoo to this idiotic censoring.

Taking all nudity off the internet is actually a ridiculous idea because for example where I live there are tons of nude statues and paintings in Musems.  So, kids can't go to museums because there is nudity?  Oh how times change.

Also kids don't pay for cable and the internet; adults do.  I'm an adult and I don't want my internet censored.  Adults are the paying customers, so we should come first.  Your children are not my responsibility nor can I control what people's kids are doing on the internet.  That's a parent's responsibility, not mine nor other adults who are the ones paying for the internet.

That is the most stupid comment, the internet is for everyone not just adults, you have an amazing selfish attitude, so basically  you think that the internet is just for adults, jeez unbelievable, and btw I expect there are many parents on here that pay for internet for their kids to enjoy access. Schools, colleges:)) your small fry

A-rated content should not show up in search unless you opt-in to see it. If you don't want to see it, don't opt-in.

Google should not be able to cache it.

If its showing up on non-A-rated listings, report that. If you can find it without being logged into SL via a google search, report that.

Otherwise... this is a non-issue. If working as it is set up to work, you will only see it if you take the steps to enable its visibility.

I think the best way to make sure that one's children aren't seeing what they shouldn't is for the parents to be actively watching what their children are doing on the internet and elsewhere. I have family and friends who have children, and they do not allow their children to watch television or go on the internet or play video games, etc., without their active supervision. In other words, their children can not engage in these activities unless their parents are there and watching them and what they do. In many cases, their children are only allowed to go to certain places on the internet, for example. If their children should engage in these activities without parental permission AND supervision, that child is punished. And this is how it should be. I think it's about time for the responsibility to be put back where it belongs: In the hands of the parents.
