I cannot find anywhere else to post this so here goes.

Various advertisers are spamming groups through a tern of service loop hole. They find groups that the owners are not online anymore or have left. They send a notecard to the owner asking for permission to send adverts. The notecard states if they do not hear back they will presume no objectionsare given and will start to send advertising messages in group chat.

Regular users of the chats cannot ban these  people from the groups. Complaints to SL seem to be ignored as they are not stopped. These advertisers seem to have multiple alts to do this.

A simple change of TOS that permision has to be given, not presumed, would make reporting these people easier and hopefully let these groups be enjoyed by those wanting to use them still with out reciving blocks of spam advertising.

PRESUMPTION is invalid even as an excuse for this spamming mechanism; those responsible can be reported to LL for spamming and harassment.

***You don't need to change the ToS; they are so open-ended LL could probably have interpreted Mother Theresa's behaviour as deserving of an Abuse Report***

You are not going to get them to change the TOS. If they had to do that for every event, for every eventuality, the TOS would keep growing and growing until there would be no way to read it and retain anything.

If a group's owners are gone and there are no other listed owners in it who can take control, that group is dead. Start your own version of it and invite all active users of the defunct group, then leave the old group. If no one is running it, no one can change things, or only in a limited way, there is no reason to stay in it.

Start your own. Make a fresh start for everybody.

These people think they are slick, but they are really quite stupid.  Their presumption is as ridicules as the TOS disclaimers that say you can share chat logs without someone's permission if someone dares talk to you.   It is not the consent of the group owner that is needed.  The people that are sent the spam must have agreed. They are not exploiting a loop hole in the TOS but one in group management.

People in the group did not sign up to be spammed. Spam is unwanted advertising and the group members didn't sign up for advertising from people that are not the group owner or their appointed officers or moderators.

Since LL has chosen to ignore the AR's, as others have said, make your own group that is moderated.
