The main thing is, you DID start it. I think the fact you used a screenshot so people could visit the location made the difference, but for whatever reason it just clicked. Became easily the most fun thread of 2011 and now looky here: might resurface in 2012 thanks to the diligence of the Brokli Watchers.

@Hrdtop: you haven't by any chance had lunch in a movie theater sitting next to Melita, have you?

I guess a quarter of a cow was overkill aswell. I attempted to modify the man food with a grenade script but knowing my luck I would have only given our ★Movie Star★ a punctured lung.

I've got most of the ★Movie Star★'s on my follow list, however none of them are online and I've noticed that all the new ones have avatar pictures as their profile picture instead of real life random people.

As for old mate controlling these bots, I'm picturing a heavy set man in a basement naked laughing at all of our comments on this awsome thread.

I'm not sure what the ★Movie Star★'s are up to. I have found them in some random places sitting, I've also seen them walking down the railway at Tuliptree(post 337). I have noticed that their head turnes and look at you when your in group chat. I don't think they are advertising either, however I'm tempted to advertise my own crap on their follow page.

I've had some seedy characters on my radar lately and I found them during another Happy Lap.BotsAtMoleMart.png

No common groups, they might be apprentice ★Movie Star★'s. Unfortunatly I fell asleep on my keyboard, then woke up and found Bill with one of my group on. (not shown) Very suspicious.

@Dillon I do my best to keep clear of movie stars and politicians, I fear them more than party clowns.

Beautiful to know I'm not the only crazy person keeping a list of all these *movie star* people. (It's a lot warmer than being out their trainspotting at any rate! :matte-motes-wink-tongue:) I've not seen any walking, but I've known a couple "twitch" their arms and legs.

That little group in your photo look like "Tiny Empires" players to me. They seem to be dotted about in little groups in places, often in the water sims, occasionally actually on a paying resident's land such as at Ilithyia.  All in all, suggests perhaps there is only you and me and the OP, and maybe a dozen other people actually logging into Second Life. All others are bots/vacant unmanned avs ! Yipes.

Yeah I've been doing alot of Happy Laps looking for the ★Movie Star★'s. Good thing I'm not paying for fuel. :)

As for the ★Movie Star★ I found at Korea3.... I have found her at Marietta, I needed back up incase she remembered me.

jhonMariettabot.png

Phhheeeew she didn't remember me, thank God for that..... This one is not far away from our friend at Zoshchenko..... that's also within walking distance from Ilithyia.

I'll will have to look around for the Tiny Empires thread on this SLforum. That would be a great read after what I seen today. Ohhh if you get the chance, check out the Land Access and read all the band names: Lindens, Moles, some very well known residents...... and Me :)

As for the Molemart crew; I went down there the other night, they had a chat with me,,,,,, believe it or not.          I asked them twenty million questions to find out if they were bots, They answered every question, however when I asked them to tell me who made the gas pumps out the front of Molemart they stumbled and started naming Linden's that have never existed.

Wow, I see what you mean about the length of that banned list over on Ilithyia. Our man at Ilithyia thinks everyone is griefing him, including the Linden person he has banned?

Back with the *movie star* avatars, unfriendly they may be, hostile they are not, and I say decorate a bot for 2012. :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:

Oh wow, you found a ★Movie Star★ floating too (pictured with flowers). I found one at Vostrukha today, I had to test the bump theory, all the ones I found sitting I collided with, the ones standing/floating I passed through them. The ones standing in rez area's,,, well.................... I helped them pack their bags. ;)

I had an interesting day stalking the ★Movie Star★'s on a new continent. Woops I ment visiting. :smileyembarrassed:  I found over 20 ★Movie Star★'s in some very random areas, mostly found on the North/West part of the continent and alot that I can not show because this is a family thread. Here's some pictures of my adventure today:

FurmanMovieStar.png

Got me stuffed how she got in there, I tried for half a hour.

MildaMovieStar.png

This nice lady gave me a cold refreshing beverage, I will have to make her something to protect her from the sun :)

MolimanMoviestar.png

I like a ★Movie Star★ with a dislocated ankle, they can't run away when I'm talking rubbish :)

PhasmogoriaMovieStar.png

Unfortunately the terrain was abit rough for vehicles so I rode a horse to find another ★Movie Star★ in a maze of band lines.

ManasluMovieStar.png

I found this very attractive young lady and gave her some ballons as a present, I went AFK for 30 second then returned to my computer to find this, very sneaky :matte-motes-crying:

LhotseMovieStar.png

I found this quite one up in the hills, she claims to be builder and an expert in skins. Unfortunately I had to decorate her head because her skin was still rezzing. I don't wish to damage her reputation.

To finish off a great day exploring a continent that I'd never been to, I thought I'd give all the possession that I had gathered in my journey to my last ★Movie Star★ find.

AkhsharumovaMovieStar.png

Just my luck...... Busted for littering!!!!! Sucks to be me :matte-motes-crying:

Feeeeed meeeeee :matte-motes-wink-tongue:

Your post, photos, and video, all had me rolling around laughing.  I do wonder if the little fat dude behind the computer(s) that run these *movie star* avs has half a clue how much fun we're having with them.  Darn good job they aren't scripted to auto-AR us for "griefing" them.

The ones you sometimes find floating and walk-through are possibly ones that have been ejected from other locations, ie when they've been parked on a parcel of abandoned land that's been sold on, and the new owner kicks them off. They're kind of halfway offline I think when you can float through them - if you push one of the landbots that sit at the bottom of the oceans right to a sim edge they're solid until you push them over the edge, then they become walk-through.

I'm slightly worried about you though; you referred to one of the *movie star* gals as "attractive" - just don't look directly into their eyes !!!! :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:

LMAO, I had fun writing my last post, I hope the captain of the MovieStar Enterprise is having a chuckle too.

I tested your walk-through theory on some bots around Bay City, 100% correct.

I'd like to see a  ★Movie Star ★ that looks like Medusa, that would be a great picture for this thread :)

I figure there had to be more ★Movie Star ★ on other continents so I decided to do a happy lap of Jeogeot. I took alot of notes, a few pictures and most of all I had fun on the journey. GarakMovieStar.png

I found afew in the usual places before I took this picture but this one got my attention. As you can see she is along way from the road and this was not an abandoned parcel or for sale, parcel set for no build, no script, no push. She seemed very interested in the clothing store she was facing. There's another 4 more ★Movie Star ★'s in that map. Guess where :)

NopsaebaramMovieStar.png

This one was high up in the hills looking at a gaming table, two of her sisters were close by.

ChamisakMovieStar.png

I had to add this picture, I like her name. Four of her sisters are close by. All the stars in this area are facing land for sale by the owner.

Things that I've noticed lately:

★Usually found on the northern side of mainland continents.

★Their profile pictures are being changed to an avatar in stead of some random female image.

★70% have Arimidi Hair of all different styles.

★Kriwer seems to be a common surname.

★What ever viewer they are usuing is not showing up.

★They seem to be sitting away from the roads just out of the sight draw distance.

However I'm still curiouser and curiouser. More happy laps tommorow :)

It really is a wonder we haven't collided with each other on the mainland. I was with piky just last Monday, but rather strangely she was 100m in the air! (The following day she was grounded again.)

starstruck.jpg

Currently the *movie star* bots are showing up as being on Viewer 2, but they were showing up as just being on an unknown viewer before.  (I'm still using Phoenix 1185, which I guess will be switched off very soon, because of the new rules regarding privacy - which include we are no longer going to be able to see what viewer other residents are using.)

One of the offices where these bots are sourced from is at Relleri (although the demo bots inside the store don't have the *movie star* tag on they are from the same organisation):

demo bots.jpg

I am sure the "captain of the MovieStar Enterprise" is laughing his buttocks off :matte-motes-wink-tongue: and maybe he'll start giving his girls medusa-style headwear to let us know he's been looking into this thread (oh, I wish).

My *movie star* neighbour piky (see previous post) has gone offline, and the "e"s and "f"s are dotted around Route 8. A taster:

The bot owner is very with it - this *movie star* is wearing a mesh outfit (in this moment I was logged in on a non-mesh viewer). Sitting on abandoned land close to the roadside.

movie star 1 - mesh outfit.jpg

Hovering in the air above a parcel of abandoned land...

movie star 2 - up in the air.jpg

Slightly unusually, the next bot was sitting comfortably on a privately-owned parcel of land...

movie star 3 - on private land.jpg

And my favourite one, before I turn in for the night, had been turned into a feature outside the store where it had been placed. So it is a hanging offence to loiter around the mainland :matte-motes-wink-tongue:

Marigold I've seen you out and about on a Happy Lap or two, back when the B grade actors were on the Atoll. I passed you when you were taking photo's on post #314 and on post #325. I guess you were mesmerised by the stars to take anynotice of me.  :(

Recently I visited one of the Traffic Injections HQ's, I just needed to know if there was some connection between Traffic Injection and ★Movie Star★'s...... Here is my story.

MovieStarswall.png

MovieStarwall.png

I found your friend from post #314, He has moved up in the world, I check his profile out. unfortunatly I can not show his face because his a Dentise in his spare time.

MovieStarheadoffice.png

I broke in and told Mathew to stop looking at porn and told him to get back to work, his colleague laughed, when we find the captain of the ★Movie Star★ Enterprise remind me to tell them about her, she's a slackers!!!!

While I was busting slackers

MovieStarheadoffice2.png

The Receptionist was to busy to talk to me aswell. She would have had the time if she wasn't on the book of faces playing the Ville of Farms.

     ★ My disquise...... fool proof.

★Am I convinced that Traffic Injection have something to do with the ★Movie Star★........... Yep 100%

★Will we ever get answers to the questions we have................. not sure.

★The viewer that they are using shows Viewer2 but you can only login one account per computer on V2.

I think it's time for a full scale attack on the Head Office!!!!! INCOMING.......................................

A very nice story, Hrdtop - fed my obsession nicely while I've not had much chance to go happy lapping for a while :matte-motes-grin: - and I hope when you stormed the Head Office the slackers were so taken by surprise they surrendered without protest.

After all this time, you must have thought I had been captured by the sinister and evil Mister *Movie Star* himself :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:

When you saw me at Lyonet - around post #314, I was undoubtedly mesmerised by the *movie star* who was close by; I was afraid it would hear me breathing.

My latest photos were taken around Easter time, and so are a little out of date now.

They could be sisters...

The *movie star* bots are showing as being on Viewer 2, because most avatars are showing as being on Viewer 2. It's the way LL have got the world set up currently, in view of recent changes to privacy issues.  You can run multiple avatars on Viewer 2, but the *movie star* owner is probably using a text-only client to do so, as he runs so many at any one time.

I'm sure one of the *movie star* people stole my mojo - so if you see something small, but bright and shiny, glitters green in one light, but lilac in another, that will be my mojo - please steal it back for me :matte-motes-kiss:

You'd expect 'bot clients to be text-only at best just because the 'bot can't see and doesn't need any of the graphics.  There's not even any need for text0-chat to be displayed, the only information the operator needs is some sort of status indicator and a command-input line.  Thus some 'bot software looks like a simple DOS application and what we see in 3D and chat might be completely unknown to the 'bots' operators.

Aye, quite so, and a simple sit command leaves them quietly in place doing whatever it is they're doing.

I half-expect one day the bot owner to come into world and them all follow him like the pied piper, like in this very old art video...

(skip through to 1:33)

I was impressed, especially as I was a four month old newbie when I saw this being filmed.

Phoenix often shows bots as being on V2 - or did until LL intentionally broke Phoenix's ability to show the client. It showed V2 as a default when it couldn't determine the client.

I don't think the movie star bots will be on text-only clients. My bots run on my opensim-based bot programme, and Phoenix often showed avatars on opensim-based programmes as using V2.

I don't get that Phil.  Opensim is server tech, not viewer tech.  In any viewer why would you expend all that processing power on rendering the world, I'd have thought that's 3/4 of what a viewer does?  Simply disable all the graphic side and you've got a pretty lightweight comms program.

Residents sitting down in places aren't always 'bots'.

There is an android app that you can access SL with and one that I use, (light weight, non graphical version of sl) and instead of having your AV just standing around on a sim, it used to automatically put you in a ground sit position. I think that's now been changed in the more recent releases, but that's only a new amendment.

Sometimes I log in and forget about it and go off to do some work..... leaving my av on a particular patch of land for hours sometimes :P whoops! lol

P.S. I won't mention the app, but a quick search of the android market will bring up a few alternatives.

It's perfectly legitimate to name the viewer you use and may help other android viewers.

On the other hand, many land-owners, estate-managers, etc. will get annoyed about bots or text-users cluttering-up their land when they're not participating in the surrounding events/environment at all.  Hehe, especially as some of the avatars are undressed or wearing wildly inappropriate clothes.  The user is oblivious to all this of course and often doesn't even respond to chat, why their avatars are bunfled-in with 'bots.

I recently pulled out an old PC with one of the first versions of Firestorm Viewer on it just so I could check what viewer the ★Movie Star★'s are using, however as Phil was saying in post #367 it just comes up as Viewer2 as the default.

I've been abit slack lately, I have been down to the ★Movie Star★'s HQ and done some snooping around for a better understanding of what they are upto but I didn't make it inside......... I was to interested in a freebies counter halfway across the sim.

PortugalHQFreebies.png

I inspected some of the freebie boxes to find most of the ★Movie Star★'s clothing, hair and skins. This is worth while checking out, some very bizzar findings in these boxes.    :smileysurprised:

With all the sim restarts happening at the moment you don't have to travel far to find upto 4 ★Movie Star★'s sitting in a welcome area at the one time. I found 3 down at Korea2 Welcome Area shown below.

MovieStarsKorea2.png

I have noticed lately that the ★Movie Star★'s seem to be heading down the coasts of Jeogeot, I found one on Abandoned land at Marybank I had to stop and say hello :)

Every 3 hours on the hour it would return to its original position.

Ive looked at the freebies in those boxes, it explains some of the bots outfits, but not all of them

has someone tried logging on a text only veiwer and seeing what it shows up as on the older pheniox?

veiwer 2 uses a lot of ram even on low setting, and usaly at most on good computers you can run 3-4 veiwer 2 veiwers at once without snail speed but its not effeciant.

so how many computers is this person using!!!???

They seem to be closing in on me; I see several names on my Phoenix radar list that never go offline when I'm sitting alone in my little house late at night.  :matte-motes-agape:

I felt brave one time, and ventured out.

movie star - rianucas Naire.jpg

Regarding them all looking like they're on Viewer 2, even using the older version of Phoenix, they will show up as being Viewer 2, or sometimes as just a question mark.  LL stopped the ability for us to be able to see what viewer people were on because of privacy issues (or something - I've slept since then :matte-motes-wink-tongue: )

I've not been around for a while. Been having my bang straight hair permed, and it's taken several weeks to get it just how I like it, but once my hair was A OK, my partner persuaded me to drive us around the old Linden Highways around Route 1 and Route 2, but aside from picking up a friendly hitchhiker we met along the way, and being pulled up by the police, and being fired at by a tank, it was an uneventful journey, and not one *movie star* did we encounter.

retro gogo girls 1.jpg

Retro Gogo Girls stopped by the police.jpg

retro gogo girls tank.jpg

Retro Gogo Girls overheat.jpg

I don't know how these *movie star* bots impact LL's plans to have 'region idling', which means sims go into some kind of standby mode when there are no avatars actually in them, and of course the sims which only contain a *movie star* bot never go into idle mode.

At least it's not like Invasion of the Body Snatchers where we become as one with them :matte-motes-big-grin:
