Bobc49
Ok I see every once in awhile in a person profile that they are Aged and voice verify is this something Linden Laps do or this a privet person doing this and is there such a thing as being age & voice verified? Senobia Xenga
This caveat usually appears in the profile of a RL man playing a SL woman to make 'her' seem more 'authentic'. To my knowledge, there is no legit verification system in place by LL or anyone else, to answer your question.

A few years ago LL had set up an age verification system that you had to supply a valid form of ID to prove you were 18. It probably was scammable so it was not 100% guaranteed. Now they only require self verification via the birth date you enter. There are some people who claim SL is crawling with teens who lied about their age. Bottom line is there is no absolute guarantee. Voice verification was (and still is) a resident to resident service and once again is no guarantee. The argument has been that anyone could get a friend of the opposite sex to speak for them. Linden Lab has never provided this service itself. So that gives you a little more background Info. About the closest thing you could get to a guarantee on the Interwebs would be to get on Web Cam and have the other person hold up five forms of picture ID for you to look at. Amethyst Jetaime
Even this is no guarantee. I knew a guy playing a woman in SL and when he was asked to cam or voice verify he got his wife to do it for him. The ONLY way to be sure is to meet someone in RL and examine their ID then have them log into their account in SL right in front of you.

I would have the other party show something else. If the party is female, she would probably refuse. If male, it could get that person into some very serious trouble. Some people, on dates with someone that claims to be a certain gender, will ask the other person to use voice to verify. That works some of the time, but there are people who can fake the voice of the other gender, and there is the possibility of a guy getting a woman (or vice versa) to speak. That is unlikely, but possible. Age and gender verification is a problem and not something I would trust on SL.
steph Arnott
Depends were the verification comes from mine would come from the second life Seventh Day Adventist church. But why I would want to put that on my profile I don't know, not really reliever for anything. As others have said, probably people using it as an attempt to convince others they female or even male, I would not assume just men do it. Added: Just as a personal point of veiw even tho others have tried to convince me, i dont understand SL sex, just seems totaly pointless.to me. I think for many people this means age verified in the sense that they have done what is required with Linden Lab to visit Adult land in Second Life (for me it was a credit card and self-reported DOB) and that someone has heard them in voice and will back up the claim that they sound like whatever they say they sound like in voice. There are groups, like "Joe's Verified Voicers," in which people will voice with each other and then allow each other to join the group and use that group as a reference. I have been part of such groups myself. It's more than nothing and less than real life with an ob/gyn or doctor's certification. Regardless it's still the internet. Kelli May
I've seen some of these groups where all that was required was to pay to join the group. Reads more like a money-making scam than anything else to me.

wiked Anton
SL IS, after all, a make belive world, if they want to add the that fantasy with " age and voice verified" then why should anyone call them a lier. after all, MOST in SL would not be what they claim to be, hence the name "secondlife" not first life. as Juan said, LL used to age verify, ( i did this) but you only have to borrow your dads license number to be verified and voice verify is just talking to them on voice, which presents its own problems. Just remember that SL is all make believe, even "proof" of anything in SL.
Tari Landar
So, by this theory, I should, or rather could, add "visually and physically verified"? Oooh, now isn't that interesting. I've been both voice and age verified, in my own mind at least, since I made this av. Although one can easily fake either one in sl. Faking a physical verification might be a tad more difficult, even visual is a bit easier to have someone else do for you. I'm pretty sure hubby can attest to all the external and internal plumbing being in place though. He' d probably even swear on a bible Usually when I see people with those verified things in their profile, my initial thought(wrong as it imay be) is "well now there's someone to avoid", "drama llama" or "probably a dude/dudette who needs that extra security of that text for their own well being-mostly mental". I do honestly think twice about befriending anyone with that junk in there. They tend to be all about the dramaz, and I'm very far from it, lol. I wouldn't trust any of those stupid groups either. They'e exactly that, stupid. Sorry, that probably sounds mean, but they really are, imo. We sl residents sure are an interesting bunch, eh? Charly Muggins
The only thing you can't fake in SL is intelligence. Well, lack of intelligence might be easy to fake. But I see little evidence of that.

Thank you Perrie..I was going to mention that. I remember when they were doing this..I had a friend of mine use their ID to verify one of my ALTS..didn't want to pass along my own information, but that was around 2009, I think. :matte-motes-sunglasses-3: It was mainly done, I thought, so that people could get into adult sims...at least, that's why I did it. As for voice verified..a lot of escorts will say that to prove that they are really women. An escort friend of mine (who is really a guy) was asked once or twice if she did voice...she just lied and said she hasn't gone out to buy a microphone yet... Syo Emerald
And thats why real women are always under some presure to voice. Sometimes its just the fact that voice isn't suitable for everyone ,or in case of an escort, its just too awkward for her.

So as you note, I seriously doubt you would be wanting it or having any use for it as verified by your church folks. Almost every time I've seen it on someone, there's als an indication of who did the verification - and so far, it has ALWAYS been some wannabe alpha male avatar: with most of the verifiees being his harem... So either that poor sod is really getting suckered, all the "girls" are his alts, or this is just yet another one of those SL kinks and its actually real for them. Given there's some pretty weird stuff in SL, nothing suprising in any of those possibilities. As to the value of SL sex... well if you don't find XXX offensive, it has comedy value. The avatars look pretty silly going at it. But noting this observation this tends to not be appreciated by those involved...
steph Arnott
I do not find it offensive, just silly, LOL. But I not judge, Maybe it makes them feel wanted. Feel sorry for the computer techs, "Sir, what's this sticky stuff you dropped on the keyboard?", LOL Added: Surrogate, the film. Best line is when Bruce Wills says to the female lawyer, "I don't know what you are. You could be some fat, ugly guy with your dxxk hanging out.", LOL Added: Sorry, was bit rude. Trouble with text, i would never say that face to face. Added: Actually thinking about it, that that probably fifty percent of SL, saying stuff they never say in RL. My wife asked me that once. Only once. She was very disappointed. Nowadays I always keep a small notebook on me with relevant facts recorded in it, like the colour of her eyes, her shoe size and how many sugars she takes in her tea. In case she interrogates me further.
