You'll have to create an object with a face of the size and shape necessary to show your slides. You'd start with a cube and stretch it into the shape of a movie screen. Here are the basic instructions for building things of "prims", the basic building blocks of SL...

Note that you'll have to export your Powerpoint presentation as a series of JPG or PNG images. Name them in order so you can sequence them properly once in-world. Unless you've got a lot of time to learn the nuances of things like scripting in SL, you'll have to sequence your slides manually by dragging them from inventory onto the display face of your movie screen prim.

Here's how you drag textures from inventory to a prim...

Once you have rezzed your screen in-world, and invited all your classmates to the venue, you simply open your inventory and, as needed, drag your Powerpoint slides onto the screen. Each will replace the last.

It looks like Lindal will find you a venue, so now you can focus on getting the slides ready. Before you spend money to upload your slides, experiment with dragging textures from the Library (at the bottom of the inventory window) onto a prim. That'll show you the mechanics of texturing, after which you can bring in your own and go to town. And finally, here's Rolig Loon's tutorial on "Local Textures", which are a temporary and free way to import textures from your computer for experimentation...

Nobody but you will see them, and they'll vanish when you log-off, but they're a handy way to see if your exported slides will look okay before you commit hard earned pennies to upload them.

Good luck!
