My screen appears black & says "this day cycle file references a missing sky file".What should I do?

I've just downloand second life, and my screen appears black. I am able to see the tools ecc, but not my avatar or the others, neither the place. What should I do?

Without knowing more abou your computer and the configuration, you didn´t even name the Viewer (official LL or Firestorm or ....) it´s hard to help.

What´s your operating system (just a very basic question)

Try to remove and install the viewer again, a very rough guess is, that during the installation something bad happened.

The error message is referring to the Windlight environment, the settings that give the sky and water their appearance.  Since you're experiencing this right after downloading the viewer, and not after making changes to your environment settings, it's probably a corrupted download or installation.
