Hello! Super nub here! ^_^)/

My friend and I rent a small piece of land together. We were thinking about building a skybox to make 2 floors for a bit extra space!

The land agreement(forgot the name, contract?) makes no mention of building size, as long as you stay in your land area.  So with that- is there a limit to how large a skybox can be?

Thank you for taking time to read this.

No limit apart from prims.

You can make it from the minimum height your covenant allows up to 4096M.

If you are on mainland - for example - that means you could make your skybox 2.5ish miles tall

I have a lot of fun designing around skyboxes. Since you have all that verticle space to work with you can actually keep the various areas of your skybox separated to boost framerates (by keeping the various skybox areas out of draw distance from the others, less stuff to render means higher framerates).

And if you're already connecting the areas of your skybox with teleporters you might as well work a holodeck into the mix giving you an effectively infinite skybox.

  • 3 years later...

if it's an ad without mentioning the size youre out of luck..

if it's inworld, attach a prim to your avatar centre and stand roughly in the middle of the skybox, then use the EDIT function and arrows to stretch the prim to the approximate sides

alternatively, attach a prim the size of the sky box size you want / are allowed to have on your land and attach that to avatar centre and see if it sticks out...

(you may be unpopular if the shop is busy...)

it's tricky and won't get you exact dimentions but you've a chance to come close

Emma :)
