I'm trying to change my avatar to an animal, but there is no animal tab in avatars.

I'm not sure if it's because my game downloaded incorrectly, or if I just started and I don't have all avatars yet. I only have New Avatars, Classic, Vampires, and People to choose from, no animals or vehicles.

If you want something  beyond what's offered as a starter avi, you'll have to purchase it. I think there are some werewolf avis in the starter avis but that's about it. 

Best bet is to search the Marketplace to find what you want then demo and see if it's what you want.

There are more avatars in your inventory. Open your inventory and go to library, clothing, older outfits. Drag the folder from your inventory upon your avatar. As far as I remember there are only wherewolfs in the avatars provided so if you want an avatar like a dog, a horse or an elephant you have to buy it or create it yourself.

Anita's correct.  You'll find lots more avatars in Library\Clothing.  Including a couple of basic Furries.  I'm not sure there are any quadruped animals in there, it's been a while since I looked.
