How do I change my avatars hair color and style?

I'm new and I want to change my avatar's hair color from brown to blonde. How do I do this? Also how do I edit the rest of her to look the way I want her to look??

It may be difficult if the hair you are wearing in no modify - which it probably is not. You may need to select a different hair piece to change color  - that brings us to your second question, click on your avatar and then click on edit appearance - you will be able to modify many of your body parts/shape by using the sliders provided for each.  If you have any follow up questions you can use the comment to post.

Most hair styles are prim attachments (sort of like a wig) so you can just find a different one and change it. There are a few in the Library section of your Inventory if you look in the clothes folder. You will find all the other "new" avatars and each one will have a different hair attachment.

You can also search for "free hair" and you will likely find lots of places offering freebies & seach for hair on the marketplace too. As with everything in SL, there are bargains to be found if you make use of the searches & do some exploring.

As for changing the rest of your looks, your body has a "shape" which you can change to suit yourself in "edit appearance" by right clicking your avatar. Or you can buy pre-made shapes if you aren`t feeling patient or creative hehe

You also have a "skin" which is the texture painted on to your shape & again you will find an endless supply of those at all sorts of prices (including free) if you look around inworld & check the marketplace.

to change your hair color and style when starting out it's best to visit a few freebies places. If you type in "freebies" into search a lot of places should show up. They have anything from hair to clothes and anything else you could possibly imagine.

For altering your shape, if you right click on your avatar and choose edit appearance, a box will come up that will allow you to change different parts of your avatar. You can use this to customize the size and shape of your avi or you can get a freebie shape from one of the freebie places when you are out looking for hair and other accessories for your avatar.

I think Laqroki, Exile, Truth, Zero all have one or more free hair styles - You might be able to find them in search, but since search is very broken if you cant, im me in world and I will pass you the landmarks.

The hair that is provided with your account--either as part of outfits or in the Library section--is copyable and is flagged as modifiable, but it is almost impossible for the newbie to stumble onto the hair modifier.

 

Why?  --In My Avatar it's under "Eyebrowshaper" in the Body Parts menu, but your hair is under the Attachments menu.  Crazy.  (Click on the wrench next to Eyebrowshaper.)

 

Worse, you can't see any of the examples.  Most won't load at all, and the rest only partly load.  I don't know what to do about that.
