Just saw a post from lastchance00 a few minutes ago querying where Age Verification was in Account then checked my own Dashboard and sure enough it's gone.

Anyone else missing Age Verification from Dashboard > Account. I know it was there a couple of days ago as I saw it but not there now as shown below.

Just noticed the Age Verification KB article was revised today the 9th July. Nothing about age verification on the Dashboard now, it's the age when you set up your account.

When you register for Second Life, you provide your birth date, because you are required to be at least 16 years old. If you are 13-15 years old, you may be allowed if you are restricted to the estate of a sponsoring organization. For more information, see Teens in Second Life.

To access adult content, you must be at least 18 years old.

Accessing adult content

To visit Adult-designated regions in Second Life or view Adult-rated search results, you must:

1. Be 18 years or older.  We determine your age based on the birthdate you provide when you set up your Second Life account.
2. Set your Viewer preferences to view adult content.  See Accessing Adult land and content for instructions.

Excerpt from my Forum thread from someone affected by this.:

I just got off of a live chat with concierge support.  From now on, to age verify, you must open a ticket and send a photo copy of your legal identification.  This effect is cascading and will, eventually, affect all residents

As I said in laschance00'post, same here Nyll. Different browsers, using alts: the same. Age verification is gone for me too. :smileysad:

It looks as if they have just reduced the verification process from two meaningless hoops to one.  We've been on an honor system since last year anyway, so this just makes that empty system a little less annoying.

Sorry if I sound dumb, but it looks like that applies to NEW accounts (or I misundertand the whole thing, which is quite possible, lol). Then how do you get age verified if you already have a teen account and want to get A rated when you turn 18? (this is pure rhetoric, I cannot even remember when I turned 18, it was so long ago! )

Does this mean everyone over 18 when creating account is now automatically adult verified even if they hadn't age verified before now? And from the other recent post, looks like people may be logged off and re-rated if the age verify shows an older age to that input when signing up.

Darned if I know. I'm guessing that I turned 18 longer ago than either of you, so I never had to deal with re-verification either. This is really confusing.

However, seems account verified can still access Adult. I'm age and account verified anyway.

No val, if your alts were 18+ at time of signing up they should be ok. I opened a thread on the Forum so maybe get more info that way too.

What an interesting development. To be sure this will save LL some pocket change.

Payment Provider Services have been looking for ways to charge more for their services, especially here in the US. I imagine that the various 3rd  party services that LL used to query for proof of age status started to become less product differentiated and more expensive to utilize if you didn't also use one of their mainline payment processing products.

A number of my real world clients have been making credit processor changes due in part to the new regulations passed by congress a few years back. The pricing of these services has been rising as a result.

Well I just checked, and sure enough there is nothing but just listing your date of birth as any kind of age verification. What a waist as, no kid is going to fess up to being a kid and are going to fess up to being under age.  And I have had to go through such things as Tobaco and Alcohol training, and have seen kids walk in and present no ID or a fake ID to buy booze as if they was 21 years of age.  I say come on LL get on the ball do you really expect under age kids to be honest. Get real and put some kind of real age verification process back in place either off of a drivers license or pass port or some form of Military or student ID, like it use to be at least then LL has a real attempt to verify.

This is Bull Crap. I have to open a new bank account just to sell adult objects and mesh on marketplace? this is by far the stupidest thing i have ever had to deal with from LL. a big slap in the face of thos who have to ride a bus everywere then walk to a bank just to try and make a living in second life? this is sad. even for them
