  1. Hello, I'm working on an object and trying to get two child prims (eyes) to blink using a texture changing script. I tried putting the script in both child prims and it worked, but they weren't in sync (due to the randomness of the blinking). My idea on solving that would be to modify the script to modify both child prims at the same time and place the script in the root prim. How can I modify this section to work on two linked prims?   2. Hello everyone! I am hair creator and i noticed that my alpha PNG is very very heavy, my mesh has 3000 complexity, when I add alpha png, it goes to "14.000 complexity (sizes 1024x1024), how can i solve it? what type of archives (format) do you guys use for alpha textuers? Thanks ^^ <3

  4. I wish to begin building and learn its craft. For my first project, I've chosen to create a small simple changing room. Using the creation tool, I enlarged and elongated a hemisphere. Now I'm hoping to learn how to create a door on hinges with an inside lock to access and secure the inner space. Also, is it possible to texture the inside surface of the hemisphere different from the outside, perhaps with a texture changer in the shape of a control panel, that might also include an interior adjustable lighting switch?   6. So i started making skins. And i'll keep it short. The texures look great in blender. Then i upload them in secondlife and they come out super blurry. I've seen so many HD looking skins around that i'm thinking there must be something i can do. they're 2048x2048 PNG format Blender SL

  8. I realize this might not be the place to ask, but I figured I'd give it a try as I have tried every means to solve the problem myself and have come up empty handed. I'm totally frustrated. I've got a mesh project that I've been working on, and I've hit snag after snag, but finally its ready to upload. Problem is: When I upload my mesh object, everything appears to be as normal. The textures all preview fine as you'll see in the images I'll attach below. But when I rez the object in world, every textured (of which there are 6), renders normally except one. Face #4 always turns into a jumbled mess. It looks like what would happen if you turned on the Planar mapping setting on a mesh object not built to use it. This is what it looks like in my modeling package. I use 3DS Max. This is how it appears when plugged into the SL Mesh Uploader. Everything looks normal in the Preview Window. And heres the damage. The area beneath the padded comfort grip turns to a mess. Now I know the saying: Don't ask for help if you can't help yourself. I've tried my normal fixes. I exported the file from 3DS Max and brought it into both Wings 3D and Blender and verified that the textures appeared as normal. They did, so I exported a .DAE from both programs. Both had the same problem. Then I tried the Default Linden Labs Viewer for an upload (I normally use Firestorm), no change. So I figured maybe it was a setting in 3DS Max. I changed material slots, repeatedly, and checked my UVs for errors. I had gotten this far, but who knows, maybe it developed an issue along the way? No, they were fine. I'm totally lost. Any and all help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I sank a ton of time into this project, and not being able to get in world is devastating. Thanks for your time, Mode.

  14. Hello everyone, I am back to creating tattoos for mesh bodies. I would like to find a way to upload temporary textures or upload from local ON my mesh body. As tattoo making is a lot of trial and error to make everything align well with the body.... Is there a way I can upload for free at first, I cannot afford to upload all my making of textures... Currently using firestorm. Thanks for the help!
  15. Let's say I want to upload a clean mesh, empty, naked mesh. Then after some time I decide to texture it. Would the texture fit the mesh perfectly without needing to move it around? Or do I need to upload the mesh with the texture?
  16. One of the things that I have struggled with for a while now is getting the right brightness of my mesh. When I compare my stuff from others it seems like they all got it right while mine are either too dark or too bright. So when I put other creator's stuff together in a scene they all sync in nicely like it was made by one person but when I put mine next to them the color/brightness/contrast is off (too dark or too bright) I want to not have to worry about that and have a more efficient workflow. I hope I'm not in an island on this I guess my question is if there's a certain way to bake the textures to make the colors/brightness uniform with others or have the right brightness for sl?

  18. I have lost many textures over the years, some stupidly and some by SL glitches. I do have clothing pieces I created from before the textures themselves were lost. Is there any way I can use the clothing article (UUID) to recover the original texture? For example, if I no longer had the texture below, but I DID have the jacket I made from it in inventory, can I somehow resurrect the texture below? Thank you, Skye Qi

  21. I'm currently looking for an experienced Mesh Artist/Texturer to work with for a project I'm currently working on. Whilst I can texture Mesh, I'm predominantly a scripter who has a hobby for Mesh and with real-life commitments only have the time to produce the mesh itself. I personally don't mind if you prefer to use Maya, Blender or any other form of software to achieve this, but the more realistic and detailed the better! If all goes well I would like to look at forming a potential partnership to expand with further projects, and of course, a % based commision will be offered on each product sold (Subject to negotiation). Currently, my main focus is on Houses, buildings and other work - as well as scripted items such as Game Tables, HUD's etc. If you're interested then feel free to contact me in-world (Wood Carpenter) - but please be sure to have something to hand to show your level of skill. Being able to work with UV maps is a must as I'm sure every Mesh creator likes to create things in their own way and may need adapting.
  22. Hi, I created a lantern in Blender (2.78). I used the UV Unwrap and applied a texture (image) to the model. Then exported in Collada (.dae) using the SL+OpenSim Static operator presents and both Render and View (in separate tries). When I go to upload the model in SL (using either Firestorm or the SL client). On Upload Options I check "Include Textures" and over on Display I check "Textures" and I can see the texture applied in the preview, however, when I calculate the weights and upload the texture isn't applied. I'm trying to figure out what step I might be missing. Thanks!
  23. Hi. I am building a Hexagonal full sim structure (something as amphitheater ....will be a lot of concentric hexagons at different height). The "corner" part will be mesh , the rectangukar parts will be made in prims. Textures for prim and mesh will be done in blender for AO. Mesh 1 is rotated on Z at 180° - Mesh 3 is rotaded on Z at 240°. If you look at object 1 and 2 the textures are ok. Problem is with object 3 rotated Z at 240°. I can unwrap the material only in "Project from View (Bounds)" mode. (because it will be applied to a SL prim) I unwrapped object 1 at 180° in top view . I used a image mapped X1 - Y5. I copied object 1 and rotated it to Z 240° (and I made a "single" user). But material/texture does not match. There is a way to rotate the marble image? I know that it is possible in Blender Cycles but I am using Blender render. Thank you very much and advance :-)

  25. Might someone be able to help me understand this mess? I have made several mesh items and this is the first one to do this.. I already tried to "Clip" in the image mapping but this is the 3rd time I have exported this thing and it keeps doing this. Did I upload it wrong? I have normal UV's.. they're all in place every single time I check in Blender before uploading.. Nothing should have gone wrong.. but every texture I put into this object comes out like this mess as shown.
