  1. I'm having recurring texture problems. I'm seeing random rainbows for all kinds of different textures. Sometimes it's landscaping, and sometimes it is buildings. If I clear my cache it goes away, but will likely crop up again with my next log in. Any ideas? Thanks!
  2. At the present time there does not seem to be a reasonable method to retrieve In-World Textures from a Secure HTTPS web page. For example, if you try using the URL: https://secondlife.com/app/image/d2773340-b1dd-b030-e9bf-2c2851000283/2 That resolves to the following URL: http://texture-service.agni.lindenlab.com/d2773340-b1dd-b030-e9bf-2c2851000283/320x240.jpg/ But notice that the first part has been changed from https:// to http:// ... GACK! Any secure web page that attempts to include an In-World Texture will trigger a "mixed content" warning in every browser out there. If you try and pre-resolve the second URL but manually stick an https:// on the front, you get an interesting error. (In Chrome it's a Privacy Error because the source is not secure.) Sooooo .. Linden Lab? What are your plans for providing a secure web service for In-World Textures? Can we get something going since it seems Secure Hosting is a nearly free and easily obtained technology these days? In the meantime, does anyone have any hacks or tricks that might get around this issue ... or maybe just sees that I've totally missed some obvious thing. I'd appreciate any help that folks can provide. Thanks in advance.

  4. I know I'm aiming too high, esp for someone who does not have proper training on mesh making but I'm really really motivated. I want to know what it takes to make it to that level and I want to know what the pros do. I know it takes more than just having all the right software but I have to start somewhere, right? So if there's any pro out there who are willing to help I'd be glad to take your advice.
  5. hi, i'm making a texture change HUD. the code i used was: default { state_entry() { llListen (-xxxxx,"","",""); } listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string msg) { llSetTexture(msg,ALL_SIDES); } that worked perfect. you wore or rezzed the object, click on the HUD, enter the UUID and all the parts changed very fast and reliable. trouble was anyone else using the same HUD could change the texture on your object as well. so to make it owner specific i added if (llGetOwnerKey(id) == llGetOwner()) making it: default { state_entry() { llListen (-xxxxxx"","",""); } listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string msg) { if (llGetOwnerKey(id) == llGetOwner()){ llSetTexture(msg,ALL_SIDES); } } } that technically works but it is very glitchy, sometimes the linkset goes randomly transparent, other times just some parts get the texture. reapplying the same texture does nothing, using a different texture makes everything change again but wit the same randomness and unreliable. only after 4 or 5 tries does it finally work right. it's maddening. i'm guessing it is lag and that when the desired texture finally gets into the cache it works. can it be that adding the get owner key and comparing it causes too much lag and it makes the scripts fail randomly? this script goes into an object with about 90 prims. in other words there is 90 iterations of the script firing at once. is that the problem and is there a better way of doing it? i'm new to scripting and have just cobbled together code i've found here and on other sites. thank you for any help.

Hello, im quite desperate to get some help with the demonica =state of art= Mesh female av textures/texture, i cannot for the life of me texture it and i cannot find anything to help with that....Please if you know of any texture and maybe able to create a skin please let me know IN WORLD xameiiax resident.   8. How do people bake realistic glass textures for glass objects such as wine glasses and bottles? I tried creating a blue tinted glass vase using the Glass and Transparency shaders in Blender, and exported the baked texture. This is the result in Blender. The left one is set to 1% transparency, and the right to no transparency. As you can see on the left, the transparency makes the vase look as it has been cut in half, showing you the inside of the vase but not also the outside of where the camera is pointing. Here's an example of the result I'm trying to go for. Any tips?

  10. I uploaded with viewer a picture from my computer; then i used it inworld as a texture over a prim i built with the viewer building tools. Then, i deleted texture from inventory and also from trash, but when i rezz my prim, i still seeing the texture. I deleted viewer cache too, but the deleted texture remains visible...WHY?

  12. Hello, So I've seen a few new mesh/non mesh items have this sparkly texture on them (clothing) and was wondering how that's being done. I'm assuming it has something to do with materials...but how? Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Elle
  13. Hi there everyone So Ive been on Second life for a few years now and the things you can do on here are amazing.   14. Hello, everyone. I've been struggling with transparent textures blurring after I upload them. When I test the textures in local, they look fine, but after I upload the very same texture, the texture is blurred as if it isn't fully rezzed. My textures are 1024 x 1024. I have made these textures for a fitted mesh item, but I can see the texture itself is blurry before putting it on the mesh, so it is definitely something within the texture itself and not the mesh. Plus this is ONLY happening for transparent textures. My non transparent textures upload just fine. So definitely not the mesh. I've been saving and following the same practices I always do for transparent textures and I've never run into this problem before. I am hoping someone out there may know what is causing this, and how I can fix it.   15. Today I have been trying to upload my textures into the beta grid and they just apper like this... I don't know If it's the grid or what, because I have been rebot my pc some times and the viewer and it just still the same. I try to uplaod to the normal SL and they upload so normal. I have been experimenting, and I can't seem to get a way to light up my mesh on blender evenly but at the same time getting that gloss/light information on certain parts without making the back look too dark. Is everyone just using the old 3 point lighting system? Is there other software I should use for texturing only? What am I missing here?
  17. I bought some stuff for avatar and one t-shirt. I found and save texture from t-shirt (from game) png file to my pc. After that I changed in photoshop, save and upload to game. But how to use my new texture?
  18. Just a simple and easy question about the amount of samples for 512x512 image size. I have been struggling getting the right quality textures, if I can know the right amount of samples that way I would only do minimal work on PS afterwards. Thanks in advance!   19. Hello I am new to LSL so I'm not sure where I am going wrong. I'm trying to create a colour change hud for an outfit I've recently created. I have written two scripts, one that is in the object I want to change and another which is the button to change the texture. In the hud you can change the colour of 3 separate components of the outfit, top, skirt and boots. Here is an example of the script inside the object: integer ch=46879421563; default { state_entry() { llListen(ch,"",NULL_KEY,""); } listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string msg) { if (llGetOwner() == llGetOwnerKey(id)) { llSetTexture(llGetSubString(msg,0,-1),ALL_SIDES); } } } and the one in the button integer ch=46879421563; default { touch_start(integer total_number) { llSay(ch,"6de65ebe-5fef-7f52-dd05-da49df98833c"); } } Each separate item has their own unique number in the integer "ch" but for some reason, some of the buttons end up changing more than just the object with the same channel. any help would be appreciated

  21. I have recently started dabbling in second life and have decided to create an avatar of my fursona for personal use. I've chosen to use a kemono avatar body, paws maned wolf head, and several separate parts which I will provide links to. I have absolutely no experience with modding and am willing to pay a fair price to have someone do that for me. There are a few parts of my avatar that won't need custom texturing, but I will provide links to those as well so that modders know the full extent of the build should that be needed.   22. Hello there, I have been working on a lipstick texture for the CATWA bento head for a while now. It looks alright, but when I try to make the texture semi transparent, it comes out with sharp edges and no transparency anywhere. I have used the steps to make an alpha mask in the alpha channel by selection, even did the steps to mess with the levels of the colouring to make it more transparent in Alpha channel, saved it as a 32bit .TGA file, even as a PNG file, but the lipstick remains harsh lined and opaque. I used several tutorials for this, hoping it would work, but no matter if the steps are all done, it just does not show up as transparent. I am testing it on the test sample heads provided by CATWA, this being my first time working on SL textures doesn't make it easier. Can someone please help me in figuring out how to get the lipstick to look transparent towards the lipline.   25. Hello! I am attempting to apply a custom texture to the Paws Ferret Head, but when I do, this happens when the eyes blink. Read the instructions and couldn't really find anything about the eyelids... Anyone know how to fix this? Much thanks!
