  1. I'm reaching out because this is my first terraform effort and new to being an estate manager. I have a large house 2-story house with a basement/dungeon, rezzed on flat land--a full homestead to which I have estate manager rights. I want the house to be raised on top of a flat hill so that you have to walk up about eight stairs to the front and back entrances. A snap of the rear view house from three years ago is attached. It somewhat shows the effect I want to achieve. Someone else did the terraform. I no longer have that helper and I'm reading to learn. Today, without terraforming and the house raised a bit, the dungeon is 75% accessible. The remaining 25% is in the water. The water height of the estate is 20.00, the terrain raise limit is 100.00, terrain lower limit is -100.00. What is the best way to approach this, please?
  2. I recently bought a new property. It is covered in pretty pink flowers. The problem is that they stick up through my floor when its level with the ground. I attempted to raise my house a little so it would be floating above the flowers slightly, and this worked well except for in one spot. I can still see the ground texture showing through. You can even see my outline when I stand underneath the house. I've checked that the ground is level and re rezzed my house but I'm really not sure whats going on here. Can anyone help?
  3. Hello there, I was starting to play around with terrains and ran straight into issues, wondering if they are known issues and if there are solutions ... Since I wanted to setup the whole sim- scene in Blender (latest version) I thought it was a good idea to download the terrain to work on it. I got the primstar-plugin for blender which allows .raw import and importing the .raw works fine, but exporting leads to a complete flat terrain (on the sim, as well when reimported in blender), so something goes wrong here. The primstar latest version is rather old so I tried again using an older version of Blender (2.59) and here the export works.... well ... sortof. When looking closer at the imported terrain on the sim and comparing it to the reference in blender, it appears rather rough, even the parts that are absolutely smooth in blender. But thats not the only issue: the general accuracy appears to be lacking. Some points differ a whole meter of height from the reference in blender. Since I wanted to align offsim-sculpties perfectly to the terrain this is a big problem for me ... I wonder if these accuracy issues are bugs or if the fileformat used for export limits it? if the latter is the case then I can sortof bin the whole project ... Maybe someone could shed some light on this? Or maybe someone knows other tools for working with terrain .raws? Many thanks!
  4. Hi , I am a long time SL user, I have been in and out, but its Ages I am litterally waiting for LL to implement better Terrain tools and yet I see no news on the horizon. What I always wanted Is: Larger sim sizes at least 4 km x 4 km instead of 256 m x 256 m Better texturing tools and materials for terrains Better shaders and procedural distribution of assets that consume less resource. Abolish the prim number system and replace with a performance indicator. Any hope to see this ?
  5. Hello everyone! So I have finally acquired my own Region! I am trying to get the soil texture of mine to ONLY be under the water line so the "lakes" I have made into the ground using terraforming will have the soil texture below the "water line" I am having quite the struggle trying to do this as the dirt is showing up on hills and area above the limit I set the textures at...but I don't think I have fully grasped how the terrain texture editing works yet. This image below is what I'm working on so far. Damn you DIRT! I want you BELOW the water line HAHA!
  6. About a year ago in some sims land/terrain started sinking(first report i have: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2017/05/second-life-land-new-world-notes-sinking.html). Is possible that this is what caused objects to suddenly interfere with vehicles on the lindens roads, like what happened with animats(https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/418728-encroachment-on-robin-loop/). I am nor sure if ll found out what caused it, or if they fixed it. So, it might be a good idea not to start accusing landowners along the roads of blocking vehicles, and causing them all kinds of problems(like temp bans)...

Hi all I have run out of space on my sim but not prims and was thinking of downloading my terrain raw file and creating a copy of the terrain into mesh then uploading it so I can create another level to my sim in the air.... I may not have thought this all through properly yet and a lot of optimisation would need to occur, physics and then I would need to create "fake" water at the base. Has anybody done this before and if so any best practice to share / things I should avoid/is this a terrible idea? I would not need normals underneath. Even better does anybody offer this as a service to save me probably crashing my sim and breaking SL and making something 203902930290392 LI? I looked on Marketplace but haven't found one yet.
