Hello I have a question I am on a limited internet package deal and I am wondering how much data per hour does Second Life consume? I spend at least 4-5 hours a day on SL if I am working on things or visiting different places. I have Mediacom package 300MBPS speed and 2,000 GB of GB allowance if anyone has the information to give me on what SL GB usage is provided per viewer.

Music Project Model Search Ah, the life of being a designer in and out of second life! Oh how I may have left the ranks of the fashion designers, but in a way, I'm still tethered to Adobe's code like a pup to the treat jar. I am looking for volunteers to model for track covers, this means that you'll get professional second life photography done by me, as well as be featured on youtube and other platforms. No moving videos planned as of yet, most of the videos are still visualizers with the cover bouncing in the background. A: I first discovered Second Life back in the summer of 2006 (yes... it's been quite a while... haha). It was on a rainy weekend while I was doing an internship in Salzburg, Austria. I was browsing the internet, looking for an online community and I found Second Life, which was free to sign up for. I tried it out and made my way to the Help Island. Q: How long have you been playing music, and what got you started? A: When I was about 6 years old, my mum asked me which activity I wanted get into. Could have been judo, ballet, or whatever else that was available in our area. I said I wanted to learn music. I hesitated between violin and piano for a while and I ended up starting with the electronic organ and music theory! Q: Tell us about some of your favorite French musicians. A: Naming some of my favorite musicians is always a difficult task for me in general. If I could name a few, I'd say Noir Désir, MC Solaar, Jacques Brel, Daft Punk... Q: I absolutely loved your cover of "Realiti" by Grimes, I never would have thought that it would translate to acoustic so well. What is your approach when creating an acoustic version of a song from a very different genre? A: I am glad to hear that you loved it! I usually do enjoy covering songs that are sometimes less expected. That's why I like covering male songs as well to make it different. It's something I really have a great time doing as I get excited to bring something more unique to the table, whenever I'm able to. Q: Who is that little yellow bird next to you? Do they have an SL presence? A: I do like cute things, so this is a cute little chick I found when I traveled to Seoul with one of my previous jobs. Unfortunately no, he doesn't have a presence in SL but that's a good idea. I may consider that, thank you haha. For many years since I started performing in SL, I've had my pink piggy, Maple! He's been around and got a mesh update a few years ago as well. His name is inspired by Canada, where I had wanted to move to for a long time and where I've now lived for close to 3 years. Q: What is the most meaningful aspect of the SL music community to you? A: What's awesome about SL is that I've been able to keep a following over the years from all over the world, and I'm able to go on singing for them, no matter where I live. I've lived in about 7 different countries. I made many friends thanks to SL and live music and enjoyed attending Live Music meet-ups in Europe and in North America. It's a shame we cannot travel at the moment but it's definitely one of the best things that has ever happened, thanks to SL live music. Thank you, Mimi! You read it six weeks ago, remember? Maybe not, because in quarantine years, six weeks ago feels like when flip phones were the coolest thing since car phones. For many of us, midterms are a marathon that tests your physical and mental limits, and an experience that is made bearable by a sense of comradery with your classmates and vending machines filled with neon energy drinks. It can feel impossible to get motivated these days, even with important deadlines looming around the corner. Why not organize a Second Life study session with your friends? There are many universities, museums, and quiet places where you and your friends can gather inworld while you crack your notes open in the physical world. Library Land would be a great place to start: it has an actual library, and if you click on a book it gives you a link to an ebook like this. Plus, it's currently decorated for Halloween and has lots of space for both studying and hanging out. Here are some suggestions: -Set a time and place with your friends, and start by sharing your goals for this virtual study session. -It’s important to take breaks, so decide when to step away from your work to unwind. -If a region’s music is distracting, you can turn it down in the sound preferences, which are also available in the upper right corner. -Afterwards, treat yourself to a romp in a more lively region or stop by a club! This can apply to people outside of school as well. Knowing that other people are feeling the same way that you do is an important element of our social fabric, and accountability buddies are always helpful. So set up your power snacks and get in here, because adapting to these weird times does not have to be boring or lonely.

Un saluto a tutti i giocatori di Second Life. 😊 Vorrei segnalare a tutti gli appassionati di volo che è attivo un gruppo denominato per l'appunto "Volare Second Life Italia" che ha come scopo quello di unire tutti gli appassionati di aerei, elicotteri e dirigibili. Per chi non conoscesse questo tipo di attività vi dico che sulla grid sono disponibili tantissimi aeroporti di differenti ampiezze che possono ospitare velivoli di piccola e media grandezza ma alcuni anche di grandi dimensioni (tipo 737/757) nonché numerose piattaforme per elicotteri ed alcune per dirigibili. Numerose sono anche le rotte ed i cosiddetti "waypoints". Ovviamente l'esperienza di volo è decisamente lontana da quella offerta dai simulatori di volo ma può comunque offrire una opportunità di divertimento ed un diversivo. Ho voluto specificare questo particolare affinché nessuno si illuda di giocare nelle condizioni di Flight Simulator 😃. Purtroppo le ben note condizioni inworld ed il lag possono "sporcare" questo piacere ma resta comunque una alternativa da tenere in considerazione. E' possibile volare su velivoli molto basici ed elementari così come su modelli ben equipaggiati che richiedono attenzione verso alcuni dettagli creando una sorta di moderato realismo. Per chiunque volesse provare l'esperienza di volo come passeggero/a sono disponibili numerose compagnie aeree e piloti singoli disposti ad ospitare a bordo i passeggeri. All'interno dei gruppi di Second Life c'è "Passengers of SL" dal quale, nella chat di gruppo, vengono diramati inviti a partecipare ad alcuni voli già predisposti. Come linee aeree italiane è possibile cercare la "Aquila Airlines" ed la "Klaber Air" alle quali è possibile fare riferimento, per la prima a me mentre per la seconda a Mara Klaber che è inoltre la leader della PAF (Pattuglia Acrobatica Francese). Visitando il sito: Aquila Airlines / Klaber air site è possibile avere una panoramica sugli aerei utilizzati ed attività di volo, nonché prenotare online una esperienza gratuita come passeggero/a. As you may know, we are in the process of moving Second Life to the cloud! Our first ever cloud simulators, on the beta grid, have been uplifted, and we can use your assistance. Here’s your opportunity to be among the first Residents to test the performance of uplift. Log in to the beta grid (click here for instructions) and start at the Aditi Portal Park to try out Linden Realms in the cloud. Bring your friends and spend some time engaging in the virtual experience produced and provided by Linden Lab. You may even run into the often unseen technical Lindens working away. Don’t forget to ask them for their Linden bear, and beware of the rock monster! If you find any issues with Linden Realms on the beta grid, please file a BUG jira at https://jira.secondlife.com, and make sure to include the time, date, region you were in when you found the issue, and a description of what happened, as well as what you would expect to happen in a similar situation on the Main Grid today.

This week we are featuring Etérea, a wondrous and surreal slice of paradise. Sprouted from the colorful mind of Coqueta Georgia, a Second Life photographer and blogger from Chile, this region feels like a curated selection of fairytale elements sprinkled over a grassy island. Experience behind the camera played a huge part in the design: Coqueta says that “Etérea was born with the idea to make a sim for photographers so that people could take photos and rezz their poses and objects for free.” With grassy hills, glittering trees, picnic tables and benches, there is no shortage of spots for a selfie, portrait, or landscape shot. Don’t be shy if you’re somewhat new to SL photography, tutorials abound and experience is how you learn. If you need a little extra motivation, the creator’s team holds monthly contests in the Etérea VIP group, which is a great way to get to know other Residents with an eye for digital art. And as always, please share the gorgeous moments you capture on our Flickr. Coqueta credits her friend SeKaoru with the creation of the name Eterea, which she defines as “something intangible or volatile, something that gives us the feeling of being poorly defined but sublime at the same time.” This is visible in the way the sky is filled with floating objects: static bubbles, a stack of chairs, a cloud of umbrellas. These things defy gravity and yet seem perfectly natural in this environment, so don’t forget to look up to the clouds. An incredibly unique aspect of this region is that, as Coqueta puts it, “Etérea will change with the seasons of the year and will be updated constantly, so bloggers and photographers can take pictures in different thematic seasons.” If you head there today, you’ll be met with tall grass and patches of clover and tulips.
