Hello. I seem to be struggling when it comes to baking normals from a high poly mesh to a low poly mesh. The reason: no matter what I do, or what tutorials I follow, I cannot get a good,high quality result (my finished result looks messy). I tried baking normals in both Blender & Substance Painter. So my question is...if I bake my high poly mesh separately and then use it's normal maps on my low poly mesh, will that work on the same principle?

Basically as the title says, I'm playing SL in 4k with some sims around 12 fps other sims that are less populated and a bit more empty with naturally higher fps @ around 60ish+ all of which on Ultra. The one setting causing all the ruckus is the Advanced Lighting Model which literally takes my frames from 130+ to the above mentioned. I know this game is poorly optimized but here's the system specs and before asked, I already went through the Nvidia Panel and forced / enhanced SL settings both for quality and performance and saw barely any flux in fps for the game. CPU: I9 9900K @ 5.2ghz MB: MSI Godlike MEG Ram: 16GB TritonZ @ 3khz GPU: Asus Strix 1080 (Stock Overclock) OS: Windows 10 Drive: 970 Samsung EVO PCIE SSD (Which SL is On) and a secondary mechanical 3TB Drive. Can't think of anything else that might be relevant to the discussion but if I missed something please be sure to contact me. I could play with advanced lighting off but I feel like with the rig I have it's really a waste not to be able to play the game at it's fullest. I know the game is poorly optimized once again and I also know that SL is more CPU heavy than GPU heavy, my 1080 is being utilized about 30% with a little flux here and there.

Hello. I have been using second life viewer for years. Lately I notice that it's incredibly slow even if I use an high-end pc. In detail I can tell you that the last good viewer I used was the version "Second_Life_5_0_6_326593_i686". The next updates had as result a consistent cut off of fps ( about 3X less fps than the fps I got with the viewer version I mentioned above). I've been waiting since August 2017 for a better viewer or something that run smooth like the version Second_Life_5_0_6_326593_i686,I opened a Jira, but nothing. What is still strange is that looking in the wiki there are ways to run older versions of the viewer and I did this when the first newer versions with lower fps appeared. The result was each time I used the earlier vesion(Second_Life_5_0_6_326593_i686) my fps were raised up by 3X than the fps I get with the newer versions of the viewer. My question is. What has changed in sl since the release Second_Life_5_0_6_326593_i686? that I know by then animesh and bake on mesh were still at embryological state of projecting Is it, by chance, that newer versions support only directX12? -
Majority of the time I have terrible FPS on SL. Around 8-30FPS Max Currently I'm using Firestorm but have tried other viewers with no benefits. I run pretty much any video game out on max settings with good FPS but SL runs like crap. I've also had many friends with lesser computer specs be getting 60+FPS while I'm running at 30-FPS Windows 10 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Intel Core i7-4820k CPU @ 3.70GHz 8GB Ram Firestorm is running from a SSD with plenty of diskspace. Attached is a picture of GPU/CPU/RAM usage in a sim packed with poorly optimized avatars to give you an idea of usage under heavy load. Graphics are maxed in that picture. However even if I set all the graphics settings to absolute bare minimum the FPS continues to be extremely poor with no real increase. I run in 2560x1080 resolution but even if set at a lower resolution it does not help. Running literally nothing but SL and it still doesn't matter. Please help, this is very frustrating.

I have been trying to get in to Second Life on and off for nearly a year now but have had one glaring issue that has been stifling any interest I start to get, a complete inability to even sustain 10 fps 90% of the time. I have looked all over for fixes, toyed with all the graphics settings, tried several viewers including Firestorm, Catsnip, Black Dragon, Alchemy, and LL. nothing software wise has so far worked. My hardware maintains a modest 30fps on ultra on games like GTA 5, Black Desert Online, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and just most games in general. GPU: Evga Nvidia 1050 ti OC edition with 6gb of Vram CPU: AMD Fx 8350 8 core processor at 3.5ghz (only 4 of the cores are physical the other 4 are virtual) Ram: 16gbs of w.e stock junk the desktop came with Storage: 2Tb HD another stock component Internet: Comcast broadband (speedtest.net states 54down/20up with 13ping to the nearest server) If anyone has any ideas as to other possible solutions, causes, or things to try it would be much appreciated. The whole situation seems incomprehensibly stupid as a game with this old of graphics shouldn't need much more then these to hit 30fps when I can play many more graphically intense games filled with a lot more happening on and off screen then I ever have witnessed or heard off in SL. My friend manages 60Fps easy on her computer with a GTX 1080ti 32gb of ram and a comparable CPU but a GTX 1080ti is just overkill for really anything regardless of w.e it is.
