I hope this is the right place to open this topic. I don't know how SL is different from other virtual worlds out there. But there are games like VRchat that gives the player an option of a house to return to. In SL everything costs money (a lot of money) and in-game currency is not really a thing, unless you have a job or successful business. Since my first day in SL I don't understand why we didn't get a private place that we could call home. A place to rezz things in instead of looking for a sandbox. Change clothes, work on our shape freely instead of looking for an empty place to do so. And so on. The minimum is to get a completely empty place, not necessarily a furnished house. Just a place that will only be yours. Why do you think free houses don't exist in SL?

Hey all, in real life, I work in architecture as well as being an architecture student at university. I love Second Life and would love to start creating and designing houses for SL. I have done lots of research, watched videos, downloaded Blender, and had a play but I am unsure where to start as they are either outdated or not quite what i am looking for. My main questions are: How can I ensure the building is functional in SL for example doors etc? How can I ensure people will be able to change the textures in the game? I have seen on this section of the forum that people mention physics, please could someone elaborate on this and how it works etc? Do I need to know any scripts and how would I apply these etc or anything else to help do this? Any other advice is more than welcome!!! I can use Revit etc, so I have exported a house from there to FBX and imported it into Blender but it comes as a block, I have tried what tutorials have suggested and it doesn't seem to work Please Help ❤️ -
Have you ever built new walls/roof and used windows/doors other elements from buildings you bought? I will not say I am going to do it - but I am thinking about it. I can not edit mesh houses. I need to make the structure, since walls can't be moved. Houses are in big parts now. I have so many houses, and no one is perfect. It is too many rooms or too few rooms, too big or too small, the layout is almost there, but not 100% what I want. But the major issue is when big windows face the wrong direction. Or it is the terrace/terrace doors on the wrong side. With that, I mean that it is facing away from my preferred view and into a neighbor's house or privacy wall. I love so many houses, but they all have things I wish was different. Do you find perfect houses, or struggle like I do? I will not move, I am staying where I am.

Hi, I know there are various ways of 'walking' in SL. When I decorate my homes I like to click to the point I want to walk to. (Hope this makes sense). Probably a bad habit I know? I normally can do this, but I recently purchased a home that has what I would term 'dead clicks', meaning I click here and there and I just basically stand still. 🤕 I know/think this could be because of scrips running in the object?, but how do I rectify this? I want to be able to click and walk as I call it! 🏃♀️ I've contacted the seller, so far no response. I'd really appreciate some ideas and help. I am not great technically but if you could tell me in a simply way?! That would help. Thanks again!😃

I have been trying for days to do physics for this one house and I am at my wits end. I have the model. I've built it and deleted it about 60 times now 😅and I really don't know where to go from here. If someone could help me understand and help me do the physics so I can see where I've been an absolute *****, it would be beyond appreciated. -

I have been looking for a glass house for some time now and still cant quite find what I am looking for. I have gone to all of these places (onsu, roost, diamandis, redgrave, Maya's, Taikou, Youneed, Anxiety, Cozy Homes, Galland, La Galleria, Vicious Decay, La Galleria, Trompe Loeil, and C& D Designs) but havent yet found anything that will work with my land. I am in the middle of the water (kinda) so I want a house that is mostly all windows, 2-3 levels, 3-4 bedrooms on the larger side, with no driveway and preferably no outside pool since its more of an island situation, I have a decent piece of land and can fit about 40*50 for this house. There are a lot of beach/lake type houses with the wooden board outside structure but I am looking for something a little newer more of a sleek and modern aesthetic than that. I have found potentials at maven and trompe but hoping there are some other options out there on the grid just not sure how to find them. I have done a marketplace search and the options there seem lower quality than I tend to go for. Anything anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in Advance GiGi Monet

I wasn't sure where to properly place this but I been looking for nice homes to live in and one that could stay unde 351 prims since that would be the max amount for the different sims I been looking at to purchase from under Linden Labs guidelines for premium members. The land is 1024sqm. It would be only me living in the home but if its possible I'd like one or two rooms at least for a bedroom and kitchen (or bathroom). I had found one from Trompe Loeli but I cannot locate it again on the sim. Any suggestions would help! Does anyone know other places to find homes besides ROOST, Trompe Loeli, Onsu, and Scarlett Creative too? Thank you!

Hi! Let's just hop right into it, shall we? I'm a complete newbie to Second Life, so I was hoping that some experienced, long-time members of SL- like you- would be willing to answer a few of my dumb questions. I'm not very interested in the roleplaying, socializing(uwa, scary) aspect of Second Life, but I've heard that the economy and business of SL is unlike any other game. The idea of building homes and creating clothing to sell is such an attractive thing, I can't help but feel curious! So, I'm sorry to be bothering you guys, but it would be absolutely wonderful if you could share some of your experience with me! I have some questions, please feel comfortable to give your thoughts! Think of this as a little Q&A, starring you! Choose any question(s) to answer, please! - Have you started or built your own store or business with clothing or houses? If so, please tell! It would be so cool to hear your story! - What are your thoughts on creating clothing? Is it difficult? Time-consuming? Worthwhile? Do you think it would be relatively simple for newbies to begin? Even newbies in their teens? - Is it expensive to begin creating clothing or building homes with the purpose to sell them? Would I have to purchase a bunch of packs or mods or whatever to be able to sell quality products? - How complex is the system/program used to create/build clothing and houses? Would a simple-minded teen be able to basically figure it out in an hour or two? - So, I don't have a lot of money... would that impede me a lot, especially at the beginning of a journey to sell clothes or houses? - Is it possible to rent houses for long-term passive income? Or must it always be a one-time sale through auction? Also, what's the typical cost of a small, medium-sized, large, and gigantic house? - What is the competitiveness of clothing/house markets? What kinds of houses or clothes are super saturated and totally not worth making anymore? (Sorry, this is a weird question >_>) - Do you have any advice for a newbie like me? For the past month now, I have had a huge problem. I will import a house which is 33 land impact. The second I try and resize it, or put a door script in it, or link a prim too it, it jumps to 110 land impact. The house itself is only 35 prims. This has happened on the past 3 houses I have imported. I have never had this issue in the past. I am using the same tools to create the houses, add physics, the same door script... the same everything. Yet the past few houses have done this. The triangle count is low, the hulls are low. I don't understand what is causing this, and what I can do to fix this. Any ideas?
