  1. Hello! Hoping someone can point me in the right direction on this. I made a character in Blender and I want to make it animesh using avastar. I have everything rigged up, weights painted, groups cleaned up, no stray vertices and the right weight groups. Everything seems fine in pose mode and everything moves the way it should. See the pic "Character before export". Everything seems fine to that point. Then I export using the avastar export and it rescales the rig. See the pic "Character after export". It also seems to do something strange with the joints. See pic entitled Character during upload. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks! (Further note: All scales have been applied as far as I know and I've gone through all the avastar documentation I can find.)
  2. Hello there, I was starting to play around with terrains and ran straight into issues, wondering if they are known issues and if there are solutions ... Since I wanted to setup the whole sim- scene in Blender (latest version) I thought it was a good idea to download the terrain to work on it. I got the primstar-plugin for blender which allows .raw import and importing the .raw works fine, but exporting leads to a complete flat terrain (on the sim, as well when reimported in blender), so something goes wrong here. The primstar latest version is rather old so I tried again using an older version of Blender (2.59) and here the export works.... well ... sortof. When looking closer at the imported terrain on the sim and comparing it to the reference in blender, it appears rather rough, even the parts that are absolutely smooth in blender. But thats not the only issue: the general accuracy appears to be lacking. Some points differ a whole meter of height from the reference in blender. Since I wanted to align offsim-sculpties perfectly to the terrain this is a big problem for me ... I wonder if these accuracy issues are bugs or if the fileformat used for export limits it? if the latter is the case then I can sortof bin the whole project ... Maybe someone could shed some light on this? Or maybe someone knows other tools for working with terrain .raws? Many thanks!
  3. this will be a little bit difficult to explain but i have a problem i have a pendant i made with gems and ofc i seperate my mesh since sl doesnt support high vertices and my question is if i made one gem created a uv map for it and added material in the shading tab, then i duclipcate the gem with the same settings and join them together [ the two gems] it creates like 2 doubled same uvmap on each other, which makes second life to be heavier on upload and cost me like around 300ls for like 100 gems as they being uvmap on each other and my question is how you take all the uvmaps and turn it into one map since they all have the same uv and material.. please help ! the mesh:https://ibb.co/QFZQ0dj the uvmap as its shown white because they on each other: https://ibb.co/VJsgDyc
  4. So I've been working on this sweatshirt. It's pretty much done (rigging, weightpainting, textures, etc.) My question is, How can I export this cloth piece as .dae without the use of Avastar? I've been trying to export it with different methods (always as collada), but in the end I've been receiving an empty .dae file or, in SL, an error message "missing level of detail".

Hello, so im having this continues issue when exporting mesh out of marvelous designer and into blender, my mesh seems to break at areas where my seam lines are (where the garments were sewed in MD) here's a screen capture of my mesh when I imported it into blender, I have asked for help in inworld creator groups but none seemed to know what the issue is exactly, id appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

  8. Hello! I'm trying to rig a bento hand for avatar, but every time unsuccessfully. Can someone give a link to a good non - Avastar tutorial or explain in your own words what I'm doing wrong? here is the process i use: -- downloaded bento workbench from this site. -- opened in a blender. -- I create an object (hand). -- I place the object and the skeleton on one layer. -- I select object, then a skeleton. -- I hit control + P. -- I choose the Armature deform -- With automatic weights. -- I check if it works in a Pose Mode. -- I export in a collada format with object and skeleton both selected. -- These are the settings I set when exporting. -- When uploading a model, this is the screen (weights and joints are not displayed). that's all. I do not use Avastar, because I am not familiar with it. can this be done without it? what am I doing wrong? With a regular skeleton rig, everything works out perfectly, the process is the same. How is bento different from normal besides more bones? And do i need to delete unused bones? Please, help!
  9. I want to export my creations that are 100% mine to my computer, how do I do that? I'm not really understanding why this is a difficult thing since all the creations that I'm referring to are designed, created, and owned by me - shouldn't I have full access and digital rights to download it to my computer whenever I want and without feeling like I'm trying to steal my own creations?
  10. Hi everyone! So I have been trying to read up past posts about Substance painter export settings without luck and such because I am struggling with getting a PROPER way to export my work from Substance Painter into Second Life without it looking blehhhh. I have been using the screenshot method from a 4096 quality in Substance, but i always seem to struggle when it comes to keeping the quality of the textures from substance when i import to SL..... (now i understand i will lose some because of the screenshot method not being the best way to work) but ive seen some people create and when they import their work it looks EXACLY the same so obviously there has to be something im not doing right... but I would really appreciate if someone could guide me properly with a step by step of what the proper export settings are n such because im really just frustrated with this. I have been asking around on social media and noone seems to want to help with this. I would greatly appreciate any help at this point because I seem to have just hit a wall and in the previous posts about this subject on this new forum stuff i don't see any of the media attached previously so its of no help unfortunately. So any help would be greatly appreciated! Ive just grown very frustrated because I can work with substance no problem, I can work with or without the baked lighting node, depending on whats required, i know enough to get around in the program itself however, i just seem to be at an impass of what needs to be done properly in order to have successful textures in SL.   11. I'm really interested in building for SL... and well, one way to build houses efficiently and something I already know how to use proficiently is The sims 2, 3, and 4 build mode... I'm not worried about textures and whatnot, all I want is the model... I was wondering if there was a way to export a sims house file from the game and a simple way to convert it using something like blender to upload it as a mesh object for SL? Any help is greatly appreciated! If not, is there any programs I could use that would be similar to the sims style grid builder (With walls, floors, and roofs)? something I could potentially use without it costing an arm and a leg to use?
  12. I'm new to create mesh in blender and I'm trying to export a clock for second life but have an error of "missing required level of detail". What do I do? I'm new, so I don't know work in the world of creations still.
  13. Trying to upload objects from cinema 4d getting error message: "Error: Dae parsing issue". - I've tried to import file into blender and export with blender into SL and still no luck. I need a fix on how or why its not working to import into sl from c4d.
  14. i'm not sure which category this should go in so i'm asking here. can anyone tell me how to export and import a profile? i know there was a way to do it but i can't remember how.
