The latest “Second Life Destinations” video takes viewers on a trip to Paris in Second Life. Designed by longtime SL resident Trouble Dethly Crystal, Vive La Paris was built as a special gift by the creator for his girlfriend in Argentina. “Whether it is her favorite song posters adorning the walls of the music store, the outdoor gallery of some my favorite images by her, to the cheese and flower shop and everything in between, the region is my love letter to her,” says Dethly. Highlights of the region featured in the video include the Eiffel Tower, shops, cafes, and an o

When it comes to Summer 2020, smooth sailing might not be the first phrase to come to mind. However, with Summer Sailstice coming up, we have a virtual event to help turn this ship around. Second Sailstice, the annual worldwide celebration of sailing, will take place in Second Life the week of June 13th-20th and just might be the largest virtual sailing event to date! SL resident Dale Irata [David Bloch in RL] originally came up with the idea, and it has grown immensely due to the abundance of creative energy among SL residents as well as his belief that “There are no limits on us h

Second Life Destinations - The Empire of Dreaming Books
Linden Lab posted a blog entry in Featured News
This week’s “Second Life Destinations” video explores “The Empire of Dreaming Books,” an elaborate region that features a vast system of tunnels and catacombs worth getting lost in. If you venture far enough, you’ll also encounter the largest bookcase that you will find in any world - virtual or otherwise. Inspiration for the project comes from a passion for the Zamonia series of books by German author Walter Moers, according to Num Bing who co-created the elaborate region with her boyfriend Clifton Howlet. “There are books everywhere,” says Bing. “There’s no electricity. It’s -
The popular live music venue Lutz City of Templemore is in the focus of this week’s “Second Life Destinations” video. Home to frequent performances by many of Second Life’s most popular musicians, Templemore is a full city with apartment buildings, businesses, outdoor areas with a little chapel, hidden pianos and many ambient and nested stages -- all drenched in soft green hues like a film set designed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The region is dedicated to the late Garrett Lutz, a patron of live music in SL who managed many artists and venues before he passed away in 2017. Prior to

I see that some of the Linden Wilderness Sims are gone now, although they still remain in the Destination Guide. Leech, Tapir, Piranha, Gecko, Capybara, all not there anymore. Was there a notification or blog entry concerning the removal of these sims? If there was, I sure missed it! I've been going to the Wilderness sims a few times a year since they were created. I enjoyed the boats, the paths, some of features that worked, and the fishing. The quests ofc have been dead a long time. Yeah, I didn't live there, never saw many people there, but there are tons of Linden places of less qual
