  1. There's not a lot to do. I think the entire build can be covered with just a few textures and this is a temporary build, the real one will need a more delicate approach which we can offer to you as well later on. Contact me via notecard, I am BinBash Resident.
  2. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon masterfully blends the serenity of ancient artwork with stunning virtual architecture. Creator Patch Thibaud is actually an architect in the physical world as well, and his years of experience inform every detail of this majestic locale. After observing some work on Patch’s Flickr, Resident Crista reached out to him to build a region for her. Of the request, Patch says, “I agreed to participate as long as I got to do The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which was an ideal subject; an evocative and romantic concept, monumental in scale - and nobody has any idea what the original looked like, if in fact it existed at all.” Patch’s affinity for building in the metaverse is strengthened by the fact that “there is no one in between me and the final result; I don't have to deal with contractors, estimators, building codes, etc.,” and yet there are limitless possibilities. Furthermore, Patch feels that “in all 3D modeling software I am familiar with, you are working in an abstract, gridded space. In SL I am used to working outdoors, with a beautiful sky and perhaps with beautiful water, and the context of an entire world.” The concept of storytelling has been incorporated into many visual art forms, and as a trained designer, Patch adopted an episodic approach to the immense project. Patch created an extensive history for the estate: “This build imagines a structure originally built in mud brick by the Assyrians; later seized and rebuilt in stone by the Romans; {eventually} acquired by a cardinal during the military struggles of Renaissance Italy, who rebuilt the temple complex at the summit to include a villa for him and pleasure gardens and pavilions; subsequent alterations and additions by the cardinal’s family, including the ballroom and the Moroccan Garden; and finally the current owner, who restored the whole structure and its gardens, and inserted a gallery for art, built in the modern style.” Crista is also a longtime Resident, having started her inworld adventures 14 years ago. For Crista, Second Life is “a part of myself… part of my life and {it has} taught me many things that made me what I am now, in RL and SL. I am one person living in two different worlds. A wonderful SL can make a better RL. The Gardens were my SL dream for years… A ton of thanks to Patch Thibaud, I am not sure if we have a better builder. Sharing the beauty he makes, {as well as the} sensations and feelings deriving from it, is the biggest pleasure and satisfaction in this world.” Video Production Credits: Draxtor Despres The Hanging Gardens of Babylon The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is an amazing estate filled with magical places that will amaze you. Created by Patch Thibaud and adapted as a residence, this is a true work of art. Majestic beyond words, you must experience this to fully appreciate it! Let the gondola guide you to your arrival then explore this awesome creation. Visit in Second Life
  3. 안녕하세요! --> Hello! I'm Sung-kyu (or Sunggyu) and I have an idea for a Korean-themed residential community. Essentially, I would like to create a sim using both traditional and modern Korean architecture; I am thinking to use the traditional Hanok for residents' homes (see the attached pictures). By no means would this community be exclusive to just Korean people - all would be welcome! Of course, a majority of this idea is reliant on the availability of these types of buildings and materials within the SL marketplace and beyond. I will try to address this issue by hiring on an SL architect... is that what they're called? Anyway, we'll cross that bridge. Right now, all I would like to do is gauge interest in this concept: would you or someone you know be interested in joining a Korean-themed residential community in SL? Feedback and suggestions would be wonderful~
  4. Did any of you end up holding on to some of the old college or university buildings from sims that ran when educational institutions were all over the place? Or have any of you created / are any of you willing to create something of the sort? The ones in the market just aren't all that exciting. I'd like to obtain a few to make a small campus. Please Notecard/PM in game - fathertheo. Let me know your price, and let's meet at a sandbox so I can get a look at what you've got. Thanks!!!
  5. I need a photographer to take pictures of a couple of items I'm planning to sell. I'm stuck using an old laptop for some time so the graphics are too low to use. Nothing fancy, just 8 photos of a building, and 3 photos of a set of shelves. Can send them to me via Email to save upload costs or via Facebook messenger. Please IM me in world if you're interested. Let me know here if you send an IM in world and I will log in and if we agree a price I will send you the items.
  6. So, like the title says I'm looking for someone to teach me about building here in SL. I've been here about a month now and the ability to build is really what has drawn me to SL. I'm working on degrees in architecture and interior design IRL and unfortunately there isn't much practice that we do IRL, so for more practice/creativity I decided this was the proper place for me to be. Anyway, So I'm looking for someone to teach me the basics of building homes in SL. I've had not much luck in buying too many homes in SL that I'm completely in love with besides 1. The land I'm on I can't currently use it because the home is too large to fit nicely for me. I've got a place that we can use to build, so don't worry about that. I've got 1250 prims at my disposal so I think that allows us plenty of space to work. I'm looking to learn also how to change the textures of the walls/flooring without screwing it up too much I've dabbled in texturing, but sometimes I can't get it to look perfect. Before you ask, yes I have visited Builders Brewery and other places people have suggested, but I'm looking for more of a private "on my land" lesson. I do have quite a few textures that I've ran across and a 30x30 grid. If anyone is interested in helping me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. We can discuss compensation, scheduling, and availability as well. Please contact me in world. Sometimes I forget to check the forums for responses. If I'm not available or am afk please just drop me a notecard and I'll reply ASAP. Thanks! Emma Tudor (EmmarieLee)
  7. My idea is to create a hallway or corridor/small room and use the backface culling of a mesh object... --say a cube that is turned inside out so that only the inside surfaces are visible. Example: This is a full cube, but the outer surfaces of the cube are not rendered, allowing the viewer to see whats inside. Another good example would be the Sims series where the walls are culled (or at least translucent) when they would otherwise block the avatar from the cameras point of view. My question: is this possible in SL? I'm learning blender and would like to know how to essentially turn my cube inside out to try this (on blender). I have searched and I cannot find anything that really explains this... it seems it would be something so simple but I'm not able to find anything. The goal here is to create a tight hallway that constrains movement of the avatar without obstructing their view. Thanks
  8. We are currently looking for a 3D artist who is open for commission work to create us a new inworld store for Lure. The general theme of it is aimed at skin and beauty, an open modern sleek look, a single room would be dedicated to fantasy skins also. The whole store is a single floor building, and we have a mockup of our current vision of it. For those interested please IM Nethya Emor with examples of your architectural work and your rates/pricing. Thank you.
