The title may be a bit decieving, but I want to know the step by step[s] to start using Blender. ============================================================= 1) I went to http://www.blender.org/download/ and downloaded Blender 2.70a for Windows 64 Bit. Is this the correct version, 2.70, that I need to be using to get started on making mesh? If not, I have Windows 8, so I need to make sure things are compatible with the OS. 2) I need to know what else I need to install to have Blender 'Secondlife ready' for Mesh export. Please provide the direct download link so I may obtain the additional software that may be needed!Possibly the skeletons and any additonal software OR Blender Add-Ons I may need? 3) Are there any Youtube tutorials Secondlife specific for MESH that are 2013-Present that will help me?Please provide the direct link[s] to the[se] video[s]. ============================================================= Please answer the TOP THREE matters as accurately as possible!   4. I have alot of questions regarding Liquid Mesh and Mesh and Blender. I just returned from a 3 month absence and alot of people were excited about it, and telling me about it. But none of which were useful, just the "It's cool!" So please answer the following questions to the best of your ability, I would be most grateful of your time and patronage. 1) Define Liquid Mesh and it's purpose. 2) Depending on the answer to question 1, does liquid mesh make mesh outdated or does it compliment mesh as in having properties mesh does not have, like moving with avatar physics for example? 3) What version of Blender supports this Liquid Mesh AND mesh? 4) If performing a CLEAN INSTALL, what would I completely need to have blender on my PC and ready to make BOTH liquid mesh and mesh for upload compatibility for Secondlife? (I apologize for my post, if it's a double, if it seems insulting, or noobish, but being a merchant, I need to know the details in a world that is always evolving towards the future and making most of my products obsolete.)
  5. Thank you very much! And yes it is a big leap, but I was nearly broke back in 2011, times rapidly changed, and I'm siezing the moment. I can't make games like WoW and I may never become an actor, I saw the grim reality crush those fantasies. But, I and my wife want to try and do this animation thing.. it is the frosting of the dream cake, I couldn't eat my cake but I wanna lick the frosting. So we are settling for the frosting.   6. I like all of this. Now what if my situation changed. (Got married since this thread was placed...) And My wife and I want to invest in some really good mocap software. Any ideas on that too? Maybe update this thread some on the information since the info on here is a tad old now. So help me out on that. Best mocap software that can be used with secondlife. I want to spend like 8000.00 USD.
  7. I want to update something in my outbox, I have no had any issues until now. I have theories on how to do it, but I don't want to mess it up and lose my sales traffic. In the old days, I could open up my Magic Box, take the old product out and place the new one in.. done. Updated. The outbox, I have yet to figure out how it works to the extent of trash the old and put in the update. Anyone know how? I would appreciate it alot.
  8. 6) ....and any other tidbits like the ups and downs of mesh. From what I know so far, the mesh can be more expensive to upload, I even hear complaints it's rather expensive. I also hear there's a way to make a polygon count lower and still keep detail, which makes the upload less expensive? If that makes any sense to anyone. Aside from that I know that some viewers still don't use mesh yet. It'll be nice once I figure out this stuff, again thanks for the help, and please try to be considerate of me, I do have experience in Blender USING sculpts, not mesh, which is why I made this thread. I have searched and it's like poking around vomit to get something good.. it ain't happening well for me.. But with everyone helping me in this thread, I do appreciate it.. hopefully I'll get the hang of this stuff and start making my new mesh products.

Opinions are welcome of any sort. I do have experience in Blender, I will look into the suggestions you all have given me and see where it gets me!
  10. Okay, so I'm looking at my program here, Blender, looking blankly at the screen.. ..I see that I have no idea where to begin with this mesh crap. I have nothing really,.. looking at the guides and stuff.. some of them act like I already got the stages set for mesh and guide me as if I have everything I need installed.. installed. I don't. First what programs do I need? Do I need to download anything further? Add any scripts to the Blender, if so what ones? I have blender set to make sculpts currently... which.. don't think that helps me much. So I heard I need: COLLADA.. okay.. yea.. looked at it, and that's all new to me. So who ever knows anything about Mesh and how one may start making mesh items for avatars, drop me a line. I need to know: 1) What program I need to use first. (To make the mesh model or etc) 2) What program I need to use second. (To put stuff onto the model or etc) 3) What program to texture the finished mesh item. 4) Any freeware available for mesh, and how reliable it is. 5) If I can use Blender since I've learned it so far... 6) ....and any other tidbits like the ups and downs of mesh. Thanks in advance and links to other helpful areas on this site or others would be nice.. I'm flooded to the brim with information.. none of it's organized.

  13. So need some answers, I keep trying to find this in the forums, so I didn't end up making a duplicate of something that is already answered.. however,.. no luck. So here's my problem and, apologies because I have a bit of a rant. Okay so first the issue at hand, the old marketplace you could search for an item you sold, how many you sold of that item, and the names of the people you sold those items to.... oh no can't do that anymore from what I can tell. No, now you have tranaction numbers and crap.. and it doesn't even have the name beside that number, it's all numbers! Here's what I mean: Transaction History only brings up this: November 04, 2011 1283665546 Delivered John Doe L$150 View order Top Selling only brings up this: =API~ Unisex Portal Armor [Classic] 437 2934 Reports -> Orders only shows this: November 04, 2011 01:33 pm PDT 1283665546 =API~ Unisex Portal Armor [Classic] B Order Item ID: 43347740 SKU: John Joe/ Jane Doe 250 Delivered 13 0 237 Redeliver item View order summary I just want to be able to see somewhere on this thing where I can click the item, see how many were sold and a list of names that bought this particular product... out of all the features that were put into the "new" marketplace this was the one thing that they just had to neglect or forget.. I've looked and looked all over for answers.. and can not find any. Warning rant..... I tried to go to the old marketplace.. no it just spams me with a stupid pop-up every time I click another link, saying, "Go here!" Well dang it, if I wanted to go there, don't you think I would have gone the first time you asked me? No, I need to be reminded fifty million times that I should "try the new marketplace" well duh.. LL... I've already moved AT the new marketplace and have been there since you all threatened to close the old one down.. so I don't need to see that notice about the old marketplace on every link click telling me to go to the new one. I went to the old one to find the old feature... but when you click it to find the old feature it just kicks you in the groin and redirects and shoves you back to the new marketplace anyway.. omg.. just take the old site down , stop throwing feces at each other, and put this feature into the new marketplace.. Anyone in LL even know the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" ? Apparently they know: "If it ain't broke, try to @#$% it."

  16. So, after playing with Qavimator for some time.. and after visiting a few sims.. I drew the following conclusions. 1) Mocap animation making seems to be on the rise. 2) I'm growing tired of making static, simple, and basic animations. 3) As far as a Kinect is concerned, that's my knowledge on Motion Capture Software. 4) I have no idea where to turn to find Mocap Software that isn't going to need my arm, leg, and kidney to buy. 5) I want to buy some Mocap software that is anywhere in the 200 dollar price range, but lower would be better. 6) Free Mocap software is generally limited to trails, and the primary versions are over 500 to 1000USD in price. (Not a real issue anymore) Edited on Sept 24th 2013 ) 7) I heard there was Mocap computer software that worked with the Kinect System. But this is a fairy tale or real fact? 8) UPDATE: Sept 24th 2013: Want top notch software for my wife and I personally. Please refer to something that is SL compatible! Anyways, if anyone uses Mocap Software in their animation creations, please help me out here. I'm wanting to make some weapon animations for myself. I don't want to buy prefabed animations, they cost way too much for ONE animation and in addition most weapon creators use them so we have a flood of animation spam on the marketplace. I want to design weapons that are my own design, my own animations and etc.. anyone can prefab.. So I'm ready to be hit with the reality mallet.. so don't hold back I need to see what I'm getting involved with here.. so if you need to crush my dreams, crush them.. but it's fine.. I recover fast.
  17. Best thing to do is to try your best to come up with your own name. It's not easy. I made my company name "Anthro Planet" then turned out that's some sort of comic or some crap. So I had to change it to Anthro Planet Incorporated. Taking a direct copy from something is protected by copyright law. But copyright law also says you can not take the original style of the item you are interested in. As long as the name or item is not a direct copy of the original it's not violating copyright law. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright

  20. Thanks for the input! That explains a few things, however, where would I begin that? Here's a script I'm trying to edit to make it control one set of prims. So far you can see I have not done that.. as I do not know where to begin with it.   21. So, I'm ''new'' to the coding world, compared to all you other coders out there.. I'm still in middle school. So here's my problem. I am making some items that require to have as little script usage as possible. I'm making toes and masks right now. Here's what I want them to do: I'm trying to create a script that when placed into the mother primitive, it can then tell the children primitives how to respond. I'm trying to create a script like this so when I click the primary prim, a specific prim set will go invisible as the rest of the children prims remain uneffected and visa versa. Example of what I mean: Sergals: When the Sergal is not in flight, it's toes are seen flat.. however when you fly, the toes curl inwards. This is all done with one script and multiple prims. The toes that are flat are named something like ]toeflat] while the toes used in flight are called ]toefly]. So when you fly, all prims named ]toefly] are seen.. when you land all toes named ]toeflat] are seen. However in my case, I want this not to be done by flying, but by a touch instead. Is it possible to have someone script it in the forum for me? If so, I've been trying to figure it out but I'm simply not that advanced to do so since this is new to me. Help would be appreciated! Anyone who helps me will get the mask I've made for free.. and it's an epic mask too let me remind you.
  22. Okay, General Discussion, a huge rant coming up. So all you Trolls get your keyboards ready to say whatever nonsense wishes to spew from it and to all you other readers who wish for some entertainment, get ready, because here it goes; PS: If this so happens to be the wrong forum, well my mistake, troll about it. I have been trying for the past 14 times and one and a half HOURS later to get into Secondlife's Grid and actually be able to function within it. Heaven forbid I can log in and actually move around when I log in. Oh yea, cleared the cache so many times that it's unreal, and all that stupid crap that I know someone's going to ask after I'm done posting. So don't bother. Everything was working fine, FINE! Three and a half hours ago I was building, fine, working fine, no lag, nothing. Okay? So tell me what the hell happened with in my two hours of just logging off to take a break does Secondlife decide to be a douchebag and not be reliable anymore? Seriously, is there something going on behind the Grid I'm not aware of? I saw some little notice about Rolling Restarts, but how come it seems only I'm affected? I see my friends are functioning just fine.. hell if I can though! I've said so many things from my mouth that would make a sailor look like a saint. Very typical you promise to keep your cool and then something just comes right along and pisses you off beyond pissed off. I'm able to play other virtual worlds just fine even as we speak! NO LAG! So what the heck? This is utter crap! I log in, I get maybe 2 seconds of stability, then, I freeze in place, can't walk forward or backward.. oh sure can turn from side to side just fine.. that does me a world of good yep. Oh and while I'm stuck in place, oh sure can get IMs here and there, but can't see local chat until 5 minutes after someone posts something. Oh look someone said something to me at 11pm, I just now see it at 11:05pm! I've even teleported to another sim, and yea, still does it. Changed clients, they are all doing it, change graphics, still does it. Turned off music, still does it. Hell I've done basically everything I can do that NORMALLY fixes this lame arse crap. But not today oh hell no,.. it's a wonder I still have hair in my head. Anyways that's my rant, if you are getting this too, or perhaps I'm just the luckiest man in the world right now to have this going on for me right now.. YAY.. post on how you solved it and hopefully it's something I haven't tried! All I can say it better quit within an hour or so or Linden Labs is going to have a large chew letter heading their direction and this so called "Premium Membership" canceled and shoved so far up somewhere it'll need surgery for removal.
