  1. So sadly physics are disabled again.  Because the sim hasn't been working right for sometime, I decided to pull my prims I had down and move out.  The owner of many properties on that sim has said that he will pull his real estate holdings if these problems continue too.

    Are you sure?
Physics has been deliberately disabled in Region/Estate -> Debug.

When physics is disabled on a region, avatars cannot move.

If they enable physics, the sim gets super laggy and crashes.  And LL can't seem to figure out why.  For those of you who are not aware, the Ranunculus sim used to be home of the Silver King Motel and Diner.  It attracted a lot of newbies to the area.  There were also many griefing problems in the past taking place all the time.  Even though Silver King moved elsewhere, the area still attracts avatars who attempt to sabotage the sim.

I have been in contact with LL and this was their latest response to me in regards to why physics are disabled:

Physics are currently turned off in this region, while our engineers work to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, it is not possible to remain in this region for more than a moment when physics are turned on. We are really sorry for this inconvenience, and are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.

If you have any additional questions regarding this issue, please feel free to include them in this support ticket.

  3. Hello everyone and especially to all explorers of the mainland:

I wanted to let you all know that the Ranunculus sim on the main land is down.  There are ongoing physics problems which have been lasting for at least two months.  LL cannot figure out why it's happening.  Therefore, if you try to visit, fly or drive on that sim, your avatar will freeze.  You will then need to teleport to another sim for this to be fixed.  Ranunculus is on Route 2.  Hopefully this problem gets fixed soon.

  4. I used to own a couple of parcels on the mainland and I remember that I purchased them for about 6000ish last year.  A few months later I sold those parcels.  Now I noticed that one of them is up for sale again, but they want double what I sold it for.  I sold that parcel for about 6000 as well too.  Why is it that the price has doubled?  I can't even afford to purchase it at that price.

  5. Please join me at Nemmers Forest Park for our weekly social event from 3PM-5PM around the campfire.  This week, we will be talking about physical and mental disabilities and disorders that either we or our friends and family have, how they effect their lives, what we/they are doing to live life on a day to day basis and more.  18+ event.  We hope to see you there.http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nemmers/152/166/34

  6. Hey everyone:

I recently paid someone to have a secluded forest park designed on a 2048 sq meter parcel on the mainland.  However, I would like for some expert designers to come out and have a look at it and see what they think, what they would change about it and if they would be willing to make some changes for little to nothing.

What I wanted was a place where people can come hang out, sit around a campfire, relax in a romantic area, waterfall, paths around the park, and I have a game table I want to set out.  I also wanted a place where people can dance since I'm a DJ and a picnic area.  But after building the romantic area in the back, plans to have a dance floor and picnic area were scrapped knowing there wouldn't be enough room on the parcel to put those with the way it's currently built.

I also wanted a place to put a beverage/desert table at, but that never happened as well.  So if you were to visit, you will notice beverages sitting on one part of the property.

If anyone wants to come check it out and offer suggestions and/or would be willing to help redesign it to make it welcoming to all guests and couples, please contact me via IM if I'm online, or notecard if I'm offlne.

  7. Hello everyone:

I just bought a 4096 sq meter parcel on the mainland which is a roadside parcel, but I only need 1/2 of the parcel and would like to rent the other half of it to someone else.  I already have in mind about how much I want to charge per week for tier with a special deal for those who pay for 4 weeks.  What I want to know is what rental box is good to use?

The comments in this thread refer to estates as single regions ... I know of one that has 120 connected regions, another that has approximately 60. There are themed ones like Caledon. Groups of private regions aren't uncommon. It shouldn't be hard to meet new people on any of those. As for being safe to rent from, I've rented land from Anshe's company for 11 years. If she leaves SL, SL itself might be in trouble.

I had a mainland parcel for about two weeks in 2006. The area was full of junk. I flew along one of the mainland roads for a couple dozen regions a few weeks ago, and saw much of the same stuff I saw in 2006. I know there are nice areas on mainland, but it doesn't meet my needs. For one thing, I like building mountains.

I used to work for a place called Second Lifestyles Estates and the owner of that company would talk bad about Anshee.

  9. Hello everyone:

I am looking to possibly build one of two types of parcels.

The first one would be a roadside parcel that is completely flat including up to the road so that I can build a driveway to easily pull cars in and out of.  I'd also like it to not be around businesses.  Looking for either a 2048 or 4096 sq meter parcel for as cheap as possible and grass.

The second one would be a parcel of both sizes, but would like it to have unblockable sunset views.  Needs to be flat and grass and not around businesses either.  Again, cheap as possible.

Also, how many of you out there have had experience with auctions?

And why can't LL sell land directly to me if I find something I want?

  10. Thank you all for your responses thus far:

Now for some responses to some people.

To Crim Mip:  Yeah I hate the terraforming limits the mainland has as well.  You can rent a homestead sim from a real estate company, but they probably charge more in tier rather than owning it.  So in a way, I kinda wish LL would let people buy homesteads without having to own a full prim sim.

To Bitsy:  Exploring the mainland, I've definitely met lots of interesting people as well.  It's very hard to do that on private estate.

To Rhonda: I don't have a premium account as of right now.  Not sure if that will change yet or not.  Only reasons I'd go premium is to get the 60 groups, requests sim restarts if I need to and have that Linden home.  The only thing with the Linden home is that it would have to have music/media rights.

To norajean.  When it comes to the family role play communities, I will have to agree with you there.  They try to cram a lot of stuff into those communities and as a result, causes a bit of lag.  Also, many of them charge a lot of L$ and don't give you a lot of prims.  I have lived in family RP communities in the past and still might if I know they aren't going anywhere, it isn't super laggy and they don't charge that much per prim.  So I prefer to live on either mainland or private estate where now a days I get more prims for less since LL added more prims to sims.

To Ceka: I definitely like the mainland as well, but still have yet to find a spot where it's pretty much just homes and also prefer a roadside parcel that doesn't have extreme lumps to get off/on the parcel since I want to park vehicles in a driveway.  And I like private sims for living on as well mainly because it's quiet.  If I choose to do private estate living, I make sure I get a parcel on the west edge of the sim so I can view sunsets without any objects obstructing my view.

To ChinRay:  That is the issue with living on the mainland.  You never know what people are going to build around you.  About a week ago where I live, someone built a club just a little bit high in the sky that I can see from my home.  I've tried not to let it bother me, but a couple doors down from where I live, someone rented/bought land and put loads of breedables on it which can make stuff laggy.  Where I'm at as well, I think I'm the only residential home too.  So I will be moving out in a day or two.

So yeah, I like the mainland for exploring.  There is a place I can park a motorhome roadside and pay a small amount to live there which I usually do while I figure out what to do next, or I could choose to be homeless.  Not sure what I'm doing as of yet.

I also rely on SL income to pay the tier and right now, I'm not getting a lot in at the moment.  If I had money, I'd get my own sim.  Not sure what I'd do with it yet.

Maybe I need to know.  What parts of the mainland are good parts to live at?

Also, I know some people prefer living in a skybox.  I prefer to have a home on the ground where I can walk out the front door and do some exploring around.  I also want to be able to see the outside skies too.
