### Do you know anyone who earns only through SL?

But I am sure, it's not rocket science.

The store you mention doesn't sell \$4 dresses.

3.5 dresses at a price of about L\$300 on average, is roughly \$1000 an hour, which is a lot less than the number needed for 1.2 million in revenues.

The more accurate calculation here without funny extra years to make the outcome so nicely rounded

300,000 dresses * \$4 = \$1,200,000

Second Life opened in june 2003, which is 12.5 years ago or 12.5 *365 = 4500 days

1,200,000 / 4500 = \$265 / day

\$265 * 250 (very reasonable rate) = L\$65000 / day

65000 / 24 = L\$2750 / hour

So if the store you mention is the one mentioned in the interview (which it can't be anyway because of the non \$4 dresses), they'd have to have sold 9 dresses an hour, since the very first day of SL.

### Do you know anyone who earns only through SL?

Even if they sold that many, those dresses aren't L\$1000 a piece, not by a mile.

### Do you know anyone who earns only through SL?

ugh, scripters

2^3 + 2 =10

### Do you know anyone who earns only through SL?

It's easy enough to make 1.2 MILLION dollars by uploading a dress (or a bunch) to SL of all places?

Assume the dresses were uploaded in 2003, when SL opened. That's 14 years ago (that's about as far as we can stretch time right?) so 1.2 million dollars, divided by 14x365= 235 dollars a day, or about ten per hour, every hour, since the beginning of SL.

It doesn't add up does it?

Hello everybody just found an interesting article on the subject. Ebbe Altberg states that in just one year, a total of 60.000.000 \$ (US) was cashed out of Second Life. Some folks must make a pretty good living of Second Life. He mentiones a fashion designer who allegedly sold 300.000 dresses at 4 \$ each.

Are you suggesting that the guy ultimately in charge of promoting Second Life has been caught shamelessly promoting Second Life?

(By dangling an unobtainable carrot, I see he also has a thorough understanding of his audience. Nicely done Ebbe).

Are you suggesting that NOT every third avatar has that dress? How dare you!

I assume you mean you CAN do those things.

In that case, go wild.

The only things you should not do, is making worn objects with too many polygons or too many high res textures or be lazy and skip the process of making LOD models for your creations.

### The Party has noted your attitude. Oh yes, it has.

Tyche's data is more likely you think? It's so obvious, but I'll break it down for the mathematically challenged.

If we add up all the sims listed in that post, we get:

350+8106+7680+1564+16+1283+5564+231 = 24794 sims

this is the same as the 2742nd prime number plus 1.
2742 is the same as the 400th prime number plus 1.
400 is the same as the 79th prime number minus 1.
79 is the 22nd prime number.

This is where we need to look a bit deeper, since we did not add or subtract a 1.

22 is the 9th prime number minus 1
it is also the 9th fibonacci number plus 1 (surprise!)

9 is the 7th fibonacci number plus 1.

Everybody knows 7 is a sacred number for the masons.

Am I the only one who sees LL and the illuminati at work?

If that's not enough, let's look at 24794 some more:

2 is a the first prime number, 47 is the 15th. 15 minus 1 is 14, double the sacred 7. That leaves us with 94, which is the exact percentage of empty space on mainland!

That´s what they want us to think of course. BUT

according to Tyche Shepherd's (Thank you, Tyche for your work, I´m not on that other forum, but reading your data regularly.) last survey (from 01-31-2016):

Breakdown of Host Server Classes by Ownership:
• Estate - Class 5: 350
• Estate - Class 7: 8106
• Estate - Class 8: 7680
• Estate - Class Unknown: 1564
• Linden - Class 5: 16
• Linden - Class 7: 1283
• Linden - Class 8: 5564
• Linden - Class Unknown: 231

Let me analyze the data for The Party:

Estate - Class 5: 350  - they assign class 5 sims to nobility-critical folk

Estate - Class 7: 8106  - your average neighbourhood sims

Estate - Class 8: 7680 - sims that belong to the big barons and have all kind of backdoor deals built in, 'Class 8' is just the tip of the iceberg as everyone knows

Estate - Class Unknown: 1564

Linden - Class 5 : 16 - help-islands, aditi etc. sims that are open to the public and assigned Class 5 to make them as bad an experience as possible, so people won´t be as reluctant to try Sansar, when the time comes

Linden - Class 7 : 1283 - your average Linden sims

Estate - Class 8 : 5564 - sims that are given away for free to close and distant relatives, friends and pets of Lindens

Linden - Class Unknown: 231

Now, Estate - Class Unknown seems weird on first sight of course, but if we take into account that there are Class 5, 7, 8 sims, and we know that LL, whatever else many have to say about them (while still insisting on using their non-existant services), are good with numbers (numbers - money!) and surely know of the existence of the number 6, we are supposed to think that they, in an effort to hide the 'Class 6' <wink smilie> sims, they simply call them Class Unknown- sims.

BUT that couldn´t be further from the truth,
obviously
(6 sells) they´d give the highest Class sims, that would be Class 9 - sims to the ones that would operate Class 6 sims, if those existed, (further hint: 6 / 9...69...you know, of course they have a bunch of illuminati in their top team and those love to afflict meaning to numbers). That clearly means that the Class Unknown - sims in truth are highest priority and stability Class 69 - sims. Unless my other theory is valid, which is that they outsourced the Class 6 - sims into the darknet, and the Class Unknown - sims are simply normal use but high performance and stability for special circle people - sims.

To illustrate with an example:

Yes, you´re right there, though I think it may be allowed to help someone with info, as long as one makes sure they are presented and will feel like the last dumbo to the rest of the forum with one´s helpful post, that seems to be a rule that´s valid for ~95% of all threads too, btw. Then they either leave the forum and SL, or will post back and there will be drama and strife throughout the thread-community, so that seems to serve the spirit at least if not the words of the thread TOS.

(edited - typos and added date of Tyche's survey)

First of all, for obvious reasons, I only visit class 8 sims. Hence my mistake.

Now, don't trust people who aren't able to connect the dots, not even if they have a last name.

Ben Greenstein and Manfred Rozemblum did a more trustworthy inventory:

Breakdown of Host Server Classes by Ownership:

• Estate - Class 5: 0

• Estate - Class 6: 0

• Estate - Class 7: 0

• Estate - Class 8: 18432.43

• Linden - Class 5: 5416
• Linden - Class 6: 231
• Linden - Class 7: 92

• Linden - Class 8: 12.57

As you can see, landbarons get class 8 sims, as they should.

The class 5 mainland and test servers should have been updated by now, but LL lost track of their physical location. The Lindens responsible for these machines were layed off in 2008.

The class 6 servers are all mainland sims, abandoned by their residents before or in 2009. Some are subdivided and filled with sparkly objects by the governance team. It is not allowed to rezz or wear any mesh there.

The class 7 servers were a premium gift, for christmas 2014, to the 92 paying customers at the time.

The class 8 servers, only made available to land barons, are currently under attack by some red bannered mob. It baffles me how they ended up on mainland, since only paying avatars can have land there. Only peasant infiltration into the most sacred of LL circles can explain this phenomenon.* These would be the Linden moles one sometimes hears whispers about I assume.

* One other plausible explanation is the secret service** maintaining these sims, using them to guide newcomers away from the rest of mainland.

** Does the abbreviation for secret service ring a bell?***

You guys forgot whisky. Strangely enough this recepy for scottish fruitcake has rum in it, RUM!

Note the tin foil in the preparation.

2 1/2 cups golden raisins (about 12 ounces)

2 cups dark raisins (about 9 ounces)

1 3/4 cups dried currants (about 8 ounces)

1 3/4 cups chopped glacéed fruits (such as red cherries, pineapple, and apricots)

3/4 cup chopped candied orange peel

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup plus 6 tablespoons dark rum

2 teaspoons each grated orange and lemon peels

1 teaspoon Lyle's Golden Syrup or light molasses

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

1/3 cup self-rising flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons (2 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature

1 1/2 cups (packed) dark brown sugar

5 large eggs

Preparation

1. Mix first 6 ingredients in large saucepan. Add 1/2 cup rum; bring to simmer over medium heat, stirring often. Remove from heat. Mix in grated orange and lemon peels, syrup, and baking soda. Let stand until fruit mixture absorbs liquid, stirring often, about 1 hour.

2. Preheat oven to 325°F. Butter 10-inch-diameter springform pan, then line bottom and sides of pan with parchment; butter parchment. Sift both flours and salt into medium bowl. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until well blended. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Add flour mixture; beat until just blended. Stir in fruit mixture. Transfer batter to pan. Cover pan with foil.

3. Bake cake 2 hours. Reduce oven temperature to 275°F; continue to bake covered until tester inserted into center comes out clean but slightly moist, about 30 minutes longer. Transfer to rack; remove foil. Pierce top of cake all over with skewer. Drizzle 6 tablespoons rum very gradually over cake. Cool completely in pan. Cut around pan sides to loosen; remove pan sides. (Can be made 3 weeks ahead. Wrap in foil; chill. Bring to room temperature before serving.)

VIrtual Hegel (who gloried in the possession of FOUR names, and hence outranks you) would disagree.

It willl always be online in my heart.

Even a griefer (with a proper name) like virtual Marx will in turn disagree with Hegel. Although he didn't get the chance to apply to LL with more than two names, his post count and amount of kudos is considerably higher. And his badge is a lot shinier.

PS Having four names, three of which being christian ones, not surnames, is suspicious. More importantly, there are too many syllables in "VirtualGeorgWilhelmFriedrichHegel17985 Resident". Imagine all the script errors with a name like that, typical noob mistake.

I'm sure I won't be in your heart, nor will anyone else with a proper name. How will that work out for your gulag then?

Typical response for someone without a surname, there are rules you know. Let me explain how it works... You don't have any authority over here, let the grownups determine when to post, okay? Get a new shiny colour or crank up your post count by at least 500% (preferably on fridays), maybe then we will allow you to contribute to this thread more days of the week.

You need koodoes too, lots of koodoes.

I understand this post doesn't fit the current drama format, call me a maverick. See you next week.

I see that you, Pamela, and KarenMichelle have at last caught at the subtle subtext at work in my thread. Yes, this is all about Class Warfare.

And come the day of the Revolution, you can be sure that I, in my capacity as First Consul of the Republic, will be taking careful stock of all of those old-time two-namers who were unsympathetic to the Cause.

Now, where did I put my knitting . . .

Hopefully your republic will last longer than some others, that way you peasants might make it to next friday.

*leaves this with just a bit of bolding and without comment, and certainly without checking the posters' previous posts in the spirit of the thread TOS, to ensure nonsensical pointlessness, just for the drama potential*

The "call me" is all you picked up on? That proves my point that people behind avatars without surnames need to stay out of a friday thread on sundays.

PS I never trust people who don't put extra effort into making a shiny forum badge. (or people using too many words with more than three syllables).

PPS you can only call me on fridays.

PPPS it looks like the grid is down, can we exchange that for the forums please?

By custom skeleton I meant custom joint positions within the standard skeleton

Not sure what you mean by "your" (my?) custom skeleton.  For now, all we can use is the standard skeleton, this will likely change when Bento hits the main grid/viewer.

A shame the tickbox is not the issue.

The only thing I can think of, is that you didn't lengthen the upper arms. It's been a while, but I think that's how you change the skeleton, not by moving the lower arm bones.

I'm sure someone else will come along, plenty of Maya users around (including the creator of Mayastar). Good luck!

No idea about Maya or Mayastar for that matter....

but you do need to tick the "include joint positions" box in the uploader to use your custom skeleton.

Could be as simple as that.
