  1. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hudhufushi/247/24/22 this sim is an rp sim but it's really beautiful for pictures and just to walk around. i think you can even take horseback riding over there too.
  2. i don't discourage people from using v2/3 (whatever the new thing is now) but i've used v1 since 2008 and i'm used to it. i've been on a third party viewer (emerald first, then phoenix/ragegast/singlarity) for nearly 2.5 of my three years on second life. do i hate v2? yeah i despise the UI i think it sucks and is hard to handle. it gives me a headache every time i use it. can i use it if i have to? yeah, but i still choose v1. yeah its not as "pretty" but it works for me (plus mesh isn't on my high list... even as a content creator in SL its nothing i'm looking into any time soon.) i like most of the features that v2 has. i personally have nothing against the features and such i just don't like the UI. again this is just my opinion.
  3. the mic thing i tend to be a bit pissy about these days because 1. i don't HAVE to get on voice if i don't want to satisfy this guy/girls wet dream (going on the basis they want to sex your avatar). 2. people seem to get pissy if i don't its like its a sin or something in SL now. its not like its a requirement last time i checked. 3. i often have background people or i have issues with connection ports with my computer (its a fussy laptop). granted not everyone wants to have a mic, and there are voice changers out there so voice isn't 100% proof as well.
  4. i personally am not a fan of affilates (thus is why i don't sell them anymore) for one reason, they give people a run for their money who creates the original stuff. ive had a case where i had a vendor that was resell stuff right next to mine, and they were making more money from the vendor then i was, how i know? it was my resellers! they are a fast way to make a buck sometimes but.... its just easier dancing/hosting/etc to earn money in second life. mall rentals are costly unless you own your own mall/club.
  5. Before I start, yes I know that marketplace plays a huge factor in today's secondlife. I’ve had my store since ‘09 on marketplace/slx/etc. I opened up a in-world store via vendors and eventually moved into a more “settled” position. I am not huge by any name but I still make a good portion of my income in second life (and it only stays in second life) through my store. But I’ve noticed lately, that my lucky board and chair have been getting more action than both my marketplace store and vendors combined. And yeah I am well aware of the economic hardships both in RL and in SL have affected both. (I do hope that they improve soon though) Granted, I don’t advertise but only in groups that I’ve been invited to and what not.But I’ve noticed, that more and more people are becoming (I don’t want to use the word cheapskates..) well freebie hunters. I’m all for a good freebie, but I’m starting to wonder if people even care if the store owner even stays open? What are your thoughts on this?
  6. actually flagging it can make it unavalible, how i know? i've had people flag my rainbow stuff because it said i created it for gay/homosexual pride and eventually had to change it because "its not appriate".. not sure about the poofing from the magic boxes though.... but i will say i had an episode of one poofing on me out of the blue. so its nice to know i'm not the only one (i'm not in the direct labrat testing either)
  7. how many items in your box? i know i had that issue when i had more than 100 items in the box, that might be the issue right there.
  8. yeah i kidna noticed that... i've since then spread it to about three boxes... i had about 256 in mine DX due to prim restraints on my home.
  9. i know there's talk of the direct delevery and such (but who knows when that will be) i'm just wondering if there is a limit to the magic boxes. like how many items we can put into one. does anyone have any idea?
  10. wish i the place i knew still existed for such a thing.. but alas it doesn't. you might want to try builder's brewery. i think they take people in who have things to offer and such. (i'm not too familar with the group myself. i'm self taught with building/texturing with minor help from friends or just watching someone else do it.)
  11. it honestly depends on what and where your going. if you are considering joining the SL military or roleplaying you might wanna keep it under 50ish or lower. i try to stay under 100 scripts and i do that very well, i have my furry avatar on, emdash, collar, and ao on usually. these people with 300 or more scripts tend to cause lag for the sim and people. i know i'm going to get flamed for this but script count DOES matter. so please be nice and descript yourself to a decent amount.
  12. i've been in SL nearly three years now and i have had tihs happen a lot. my sire in bloodlines went MIA from SL for awhile and him and i kept in contact through facebook (my sl facebook) and i think yahoo. i know another person that rarely logs in and i tihnk she's just quietly slipped out of SL for good... its a shame though she was a lot of fun. the person that brought me to second life ironically has been MIA for some time too, but i keep up with her out of world (i've known her longer than i've been in SL lol) unforunately i had have friends who just don't ever sign back on again, or they move accounts. some people wonder where i go when i'm not on this account, but i have alts but i don't plan on leaving this account any time soon. lol
  13. I honestly would think that things have gotten easier or blending. I mean I'm speaking from personal experience and every sl experience is different. I honestly think it has. I mean there are people that stay well within their respected SL communities (I'm no different) but there are others that will seek out people and vise versa. It all has to do with attitudes towards others. If someone has a snotty attitude with me because I'm a furry in secondlife, well that's not going to bode well for them. I used to be one of the people that were wary of people outside of the furry community, but I've gotten over it. Am I still cautious of new people? Yes but that is just apart of my personality. Like I said before its all in how you view people and what they are in, and open mind is key in secondlife. In my experience though, not everyone has it and some people tend to take things a bit too seriously and personally.
  14. i remember them changing that when viewer 2.0 (the original) came out and some where around the lat 1.23 update. but i do know for sure that the 2.0 viwer has the tied to the account cabability i'm honestly not worried about it. i do what i need to do when it happens. we can't really do anything until then.
