Seems like the fat ass/big boob trend has hit Lara big time.

I think this is an extremely unfair characterization. If you put on LaraX using a shape made for Lara 3.x, it's going to look different of course. If you take some time to see how the sliders react with this body, I think you'll be surprised at just how trim your avatar's appearance can be with LaraX.

Of course, I don't care which body you choose to use. I just think you might benefit from seeing what the body is actually capable of before coming to a conclusion.

Have now bought a nice outfit (vee-neck knit sweater and leather pants, both updated with X size) from ISON at Dubai,

fyi, the leather pants are discounted 50% at Dubai. I purchased one set and was given a 50% refund.

All "Maitreya items" in the "Maitreya store" will be updated. No date has been announced. I own just about every single item in the store, lol. That said, I have no idea if the updates will be free.

I'm not speaking for Maitreya, but in all the years I've shopped at Maitreya, I've never seen her charge for an update.

It would have been more impressive had Maitreya made the new body Modify so one could link the deformers and some other things as well the Stick feature so one could add specific names to them. That would have made the switch much more attractive.

I have absolutely no need for the body to be mod. I can understand why some might want that, but I think it's unreasonable to try and dictate to a creator how they should market their creations.

  5. I had forgotten I still had mine on for Blush when I first put LaraX on. I noticed that her shoulders were too sloped and that her stomach way too caved in. As soon as I removed the deformers I was happy with my shape in LaraX. No need for me to use up attachment slots for deformers!

    Thanks, Blush!

Is there a list of stores that make and sell Lara/LaraX body deformers anywhere?

And I assume that just because a body deformer works for Lara, it might not work for LaraX, since the mesh is somewhat different, right?

I can't get inworld at the moment, Thanksgivings festivities, but once I'm back home, I'll post the names of the ones I used to use. I have tried them though to see if they still functioned with the X sizes, and they have.

One of things I like about the full-price Kalhene Erika body is the number of deformers for various areas of the body. I'm not an expert in this area, so I ask: if Maitreya does not offer these kinds of deformers, does anybody else? Perhaps there is a market here for LaraX deformers (for example, to remove the butt dimples, perhaps?). Like I said, I'm not an expert, so I'd like to learn more about the body deformer market.

There are lots of deformers on the market that work with either Lara 5.3 or LaraX or PetiteX. I used many to be honest before switching to LaraX. I don't need any of them now.

The switch to LaraX is really just for the creators, not the people using it.

Completely false. Perhaps you are not as aware of the changes in the anatomy that make the body so much more beautiful. But they are there. Do you see the differences if you're clear across a region? Probably not. But come this summer when we're wearing less clothing those differences are going to be very apparent.

Is it a list somewhere only with updates of previous releases? I see some in new releases, but they are not easy to find.

Petite X isn't an add-on. It's a whole separate body. And the upgrade also has a version of the 5.3 body with Petite natively built in - not an add-on. It's just a separate redelivery.

LaraX Petite is also available in the store today as an add-on, but also as a full body. No one has told me the reasoning behind this, but I have deduced that there may be people who want a full body LaraX but also to use PetiteX sparingly enough that they might prefer to spend the money to buy the add-on and not necessarily the full body.

  11. What I don't get, and I'm not saying it's being spouted by many, because it's only a very tiny segment, is the dismissal of the desires of so many who have desired a new and improved body from Maitreya. Why in the world would you begrudge those of us who have dreamed of this body when you still have the body you love?

There is more than enough content for the 5.3 to last people for years and years even if not another thing were made for Lara 5.3. Yes, there have been a few merchants say they will swap completely from 5.3 to X, but there are those who have said they will continue to support both. Maitreya has said all along that they will support both 5.3 and X.

You're also dismissing the simple fact that LaraX and PetiteX will create revenue for merchants. Be honest, many (not all) have stopped buying clothes for Lara 3.5 except for weekend sales events.

  12. Relearning the sliders for LaraX and PetiteX reminds me of when Lelutka changed the rigging on their heads. It was a steep learning curve trying to figure out how to get our heads to look right again. Now we don't think twice about it.

This, and other pics showing it is possible, is only making me feel like a total day one noob again.

Thank you though, I'll keep kicking my monitor until i get it right.

Don't feel that way!!! I've had the body awhile learning how it responds to the sliders. You will get it! And remember my offer. I'd be happy to help after Thanksgivings.

Based on breast size and shape that's the Petite body?

Here is the exact same shape, except I did reduce stomach size from 4 to zero, on the LaraX.

And I have not used any deformers to achieve this shape.

Yes. But as for hips/butt it doesn't matter if LaraX or PetiteX. The Petite only affects breast size/shape.

  16. This is mine shown with the proportion tool. I have not used any deformers to get this shape.

The crotch arrow matches the pelvis in front; however, the curve of the butt to thigh is lower than the pelvis, which is normal.

I'm starting to suspect that what the issue is under the skin is that whatever passes for a spine and coccyx in the rig (?) isn't long enough and the top of the butt curve is too high for that reason.

Look at this side by side I just took ... while the butt sticks out a touch more than I'd like it's the overall shape that's not correct. There's no gentle curve into the roundness from the top down (where you spine curves out), it just balloons out very suddenly. That's not how human bodies look, the curve into your tush has a downward slope not a sudden outward jutting. It's like the angle on the tailbone from the spine is too aggressive.

That's my issue, almost more so than the actual size. (Also need to lengthen my arm by 1 or 2 to get the wrist in the right spot)

I can't tell for sure looking in this pic because it's a side shot. But to me it seems as though the crotches aren't lined up. Maybe you're lining up the curve from the butt to the thigh moreso than the actual pelvic area. Also, the bottom of the knee on the picture appears to be above your avatar's knee.

Having made the Baskerville Proportion Tool set, I too am very familiar with the 8 head proportion model. Sometimes, well oftentimes, we have to nudge parts because our mesh bodies just aren't human. :)

Woop, just grabbed an updated top that now has LaraX rigging. I no longer only have bras to wear!

.. Now I'll just need some trousers ..

One of my most favorite top styles. I bought the fatpack!

And I must say your avie looks amazing!

Sorry but none of the butts pictured as being too big/round seem that way to me.  What's with the flat butt thing?  I thought only male avatars were obsessed with not having any butt.

There are actually lots and lots of people who want tiny butts. Spend any time in MLF helping people with their shapes and you'd see it's quite common.

Well then it's some other combination of sliders working in tandem because I can't get anywhere near flat no matter how I try.

If your objective is a completely flat butt, I don't think you'll get there, but I don't really think that is even possible on 5.3. But if you throw out all your experience using the sliders and start playing with them to see how they react and correspond to each other, you can get a nice small not overly plump derriere.

Well, I'm not sure whether I ought to divulge my arcane butt-sculpting techniques .. Let's just say things got cranked well past 11.

I think 30 is the magic number that balances between the two, wide vs thick. But that number scares people so I have been easing people into starting at 10 so it's not shell shock. :D

That's one area I noticed it quite different on the bodies.  I used the same shape for X as I had for 5.3.  The hips on the X body appeared shorter than with 5.3 making the butt stick out further.  Quite noticeable to me.

Yeah, because of the new weighting and having butt physics now enabled, the sliders do NOT respond as before. So you absolutely have to adjust your shape to get the look you want. Unless your current shape has all the sliders around 50, which isn't likely but some do.

Hmm, not what I can observe - 0 is definitely smaller than 10-12.

I managed to get some sort of semblance of realism by reducing my body fat, leg muscles and zeroing the saddle bags but I'm still carrying one hell of a butt around.

The booty gets wider when you lower below 10. By backing it off of 0 your hips will narrow. And yes, leg muscle, saddle bags, body thickness, and body fat all affect the booty too. Also, increasing hip length will reduce the bubble butt effect which also makes the butt appear flatter.
