  1. I am not a fan of Summer and lack a serious summer wardrobe both in RL and SL. Last Summer I was invited to a Summer Cruise Ship excursion and this was the best I could come up with. I did, however, have a great time! /me rubs sunscreen lotion in fur
  2. Very nice. May I ask what the rendering cost (is that the term) is? I look forward to seeing others' meshes.
  3. Venus Petrov wrote: Great eyes, Elric! Eyes and the shape of the mouth bring 'expression' to our pixel faces. I like the hint of a smile on your face. Thank you. It's interesting that you point out the smile/mouth as well. I can't tell you how long I worked on that! /me chuckles. And this is a wonderful thread -- I'm really enjoying having a closer look on the eyes everyone chooses for themselves, and just how well-suited they are to people's images and personalities.
  4. I spent a great deal of time selecting eyes as well. When I found Miriel's (four years ago), I was ecstatic. They were realistic, with a touch of something special. I have several of her colour schemes, but stick with this one unless I'm fox or vampire. My human vampire self also has Miriel's red hued eyes. Sadly, she is retired, but I'm happy to have what I do.
  5. Dear Miss (apologies for the length of this complaint but I wish to properly convey my frustration), My complaint is as follows: Despite diligent research in products and those who provide products, I find myself constantly at the receiving end of "the lemon" of the lot. Attend.. I have two company cars -- exact same car, one year apart. The first, despite the persistent interior odor of food smell as a result of its majority driver (not me), is perfect. The second, my vehicle, came off the boat (literally) with a broken side mirror (repaired under warranty), and then shortly after warranty expired, proceeded to require the replacement of every internal structure save the engine (so far). I love my car, but quite frankly, it was constructed with low grade components, and seems drastically different than the first car. I had a Canon G2 camera. I loved this camera. Other than it eventually being "slow" (my friend shot five times the number of shots to my one on a mutual trip to Japan), it took lovely photos. So I decided that for my next trip to Japan I would buy the latest G series so I wasn't standing and waiting forever while taking photos. Well, the G9 series has some major faults, which cost me serious money to fix (to the tune of nearly half the value of the camera), which were all fixed and some amazing improvements with the release of the G10, which I cannot justify buying. I recently bought the The Tudors boxed set, happily watched season 1, and then precisely 35 minutes into episode 1 of season 2, refused to play... due to a HUGE scratch (manufacturing defect) on the disc. I cannot continue watching this historical drama until the manufacturer finally listens to me and agrees to ship me a replacement. I have a beautiful solid wood bedroom suite. I decided to add, due to my insane wardrobe buying habits, another high dresser. It's a custom stain, so I had to bring in one of the drawers to be matched to the second, additional, new dresser. They know me. I have them custom make nearly all my furniture. They delivered the second dresser which is... shorter, thinner and really other than the basic design, is NOT the same as its twin. They claim they didn't know I had that style of dresser already and if they'd known, they would have asked me to take measurements as they changed carpenters!! So now my new clothes are in piles and I await another twin, which will hopefully be identical and not stick out like a black sheep. I could go on with examples, but I think you see my point. I care for my things to the point they last nearly forever, but am constantly met with shoddy and inconsistent craftsmanship. I run my own business and endeavour to give each of my clients 200%. Why does the Universe hate me? Signed, surrounded by incompetence.

I have a sudden urge to cleanse myself; catch a flight to Narita and scrum myself stupid on salmon and ume onigiri (there's a great kiosk at Shinjuku station).
  7. My avatar is very much an extension of me, but wrapped in a fantasy package (much cheaper dry cleaning bills in SL). My avatar's personality and preferences are my own and similar or the same in RL. We're both fashion obsessed and have our own style, without a care for what is newly released or trending. However, I am not a fox in RL, and I couldn't afford the extensive wardrobe my avatar has -- but there are definite similarities. My avatar is, in some ways, what I would be if there were no limitations -- hence the beauty of SL. I even have the same fashion crisis in both SL and RL. Beach/poolside attire? HELP!!!! CRISIS! Fashion and appearance aside, my interests in SL are reflective of RL: art, medicine, Victorian, creation, expression of imagination, metaphysics etc. I sound and feel so boring! But I've been fortunate in RL to have a very fulfilling existence, much experience etc. SL simply feels ramped up for me -- it's me, just a fantastic expression because these things are difficult in RL. And I really shouldn't write responses before I've had a chance to wake up!

(or a close second to *my* VaNiTy ThReaD) We can't be outdone, Storm. Perhaps we need a Gent's Club for smoking cigars, sipping brandy and discussing politics! Interestingly, when I came to SL 4 years ago I tried to find a proper Gentleman's Club in SL, and only stumbled into brothel after brothel. The Pearl comes back to memory. But I never did locate a true Gent's Club.
  12. RWB is both visually stunning and mentally evocative. In other words, it can be enjoyed in silence or discussed with a friend. I used RWB as a backdrop for a recent fashion blog post, if you'd like to see photos.

And I can't believe that I BLEEPED in the forums. I used the "B*****D" word, also used to denote an illegitimate child. Curious. Elric, if it makes you feel any better, I bleeped myself in another thread last night. It's the closest I've ever come to swearing in the forum. :smileysurprised: And I can't believe the words we were using were all that bad either! /me laughs. B*****D is a real word, without cussing connotations. i.e. "The King's B*****D (bastardo) will never ascend the throne." Ahhh well.
  14. Not everyone is in SL for the same reason as you, and those reasons often change. Some people are in SL for the social aspect, others strictly for RP, and others simply wish to play with prims. Therefore, despite having many interests in common, or a few in world common associations, your reasons for being and perspectives may not foster a solid relationship. Understanding, if possible, WHY someone else is in SL (in addition to yourself), will greatly assist with the type of friendship (or not) forged.
  15. The Spam "appears" (visually) worse on this forum than the last. I do hope it is taken care of soon.

I usually don't speak or IM to someone for no specific reason and people might think i'm not caring for them. But i'm just the opposite, i'm very caring and interested in my friends, but i don't want to bother them just for some chitchat. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this actually. Once engaged, I'm usually quite garrulous, but it's getting to that point. Well met! And I can't believe that I BLEEPED in the forums. 17. I hardly EVER initiate conversations, so I'm sure people think I'm an utter uncaring **bleep**. I'm just not one to suddenly IM someone for no reason -- even to just say hello. I have also misread text (tired, dirty glasses, foggy brain etc.) which has caused me to respond foolishly. But I don't think I've ever lost a friend SL except by not maintaining contact.
  18. Good question, and I look forwrd to reading responses of others. Myself, I'm actually not in SL for the purpose of making friends plus I'm actually quite shy and find socializing terrifying sometimes. I have no issues conversing with creators, sim owners etc., but in my old days of attending Caledon events -- I would spend the first hour just mastering breathing. Having said that, I do have a few very good real friends in SL, and each of them "simply happened" through chance encounters. I would say that my behaviour was the primary reason for forging the friendship (my being friendly, open, non judgmental, a little reserved at first, genuine, curious about others etc.). My avatar's appearance and my capability for being a little more gregarious (once I find I catch my breath) has and seems to earn me more social friendships, but in the end these are likely acquaintances, although I do care for their well-being and will help them any time I can. In fact, upon thinking of it, I'm helpful to anyone I can be. But I don't crave socialization or "need" friendships. So I very much feel like the "odd person out". Oh, I have to add that participating in events and games is a very good way to meet people, as is exploring. Shopping -- not so much. This weekened I've been researching men's clothing shoppes in SL and I've never encountered so many "panhandlers" in my SL life as I did yesterday while "shopping".

My review is here, as well. For more photos! I love it when guys dress up. :womanvery-happy: /me chuckles. Some of us are just as much slaves to fashion (in RL and SL) as the Ladies. Wasn't it ZZ Top who said "Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man"?

It's from Wretched Dollies https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/WD-Lord-Hollow/175996: I thought Rfyre was great at one time, now... not so much. I'll definitely have to check out the other's you've mentioned. Thanks... Dres That's a fabulous ensemble, and one of my favourites. I do wish she would create more EGA fashions. And well met! Cheers.

I tend to find, for myself, the best elegant gothic with a Victorian twist ensembles (for men) stem from Falln and Silent Sparrow. I am admittedly not quite as keen on Rfyre, but do have a few of her ensembles. AVid has an interesting selection as well, and Blak Opal offers some excellent variety. But for the best coat tails, it's Silent Sparrow, followed by Falln -- both are wonderful with creating sumptuous suits. Apologies... I can chat endlessly about fashions sometimes! You have made me curious about Silent Sparrow (again). I bought several lovely outfits there back in 07 but the last time I was at the shop about a year ago it did not seem to have the same awesome selection it had earlier. I will visit again soon. And, you mean FallinAngel? If so, yes, lots of nice stuff there, too! Hya from Silent Sparrow slowed down a little this past year, but I have to say of all the creators I've been buying from in the past 4 years, Hya's skills have grown the most. She is continuously learning and applying her knowledge to new creations. And with her inimitible style and texture creation, I cannot recommend her enough. Actually, I meant Falln (as in Azriel Demain). Az is an astoundingly prolific producer, and he does experiment, but I tend not to buy every suit he makes. I will have to check out Fallin Angle (I'm curious now). I maintain a list of Gothic Victorian Steampunk fashion for men (sorely in need of updating), but will send you a copy in world just for your own interest (and in case any of your male friends are suffering a fashion crisis and wish to dabble in Goth-Vic-Steam ware). /me chuckles. Cheers and nice chatting!

Since coming to SL 4 years ago I've been an avid hunter of Elegant Gothic Victorian attire, and I must say it was near impossible to find then, and even now, while offerings have improved, I find myself still craving for more. Cheers! You can find the Quote ability once you are in the Post Message area. The button is on the top right. Next to Spell Check. Did you by any chance get that outfit from RFyre? Raven Pennyfeather has some nice gothic, victorian, steampunk designs. Thank you! Yes, I completely missed that HUGE button labelled "Quote" (/me hangs head in shame). The obvious continues to escape me. That outfit is from Falln (one of my favourites, Valeries).
