  1. Sorry to be rude Commerce Team, but If anyone with a voice, knows anything about business, or just thought about it for 10 seconds, they should realised how ridiculous this move is. They should have spoken up at brain-storming meetings (or whatever type of get-togethers LL has), and said so. And others should have listened. It's not rocket science. I only need to know my customer's' real name, the one they will always have, not the one they change whenever the wind changes. From a business perspective I have no need, whatsoever, in knowing this week's display name of my customer. What is astounding me is the lack of brain power with some in the LL ranks. This is just so elementary. Even though some have suggested merchants should have been asked, anyone with say, half an understanding of how SL business works, should have known how stupid this move is. My suggestion - all LL employees in decision making roles, no matter how small - at minimum, learn the procedures of running a business, and how a merchant goes about reconciling reports from the Marketplace and Transaction History. Then how to follow it up and learn how a merchant uses that information for customer queries. All LL employees, especially decision makers, should have a good understanding of how all aspects SecondLife works, and actually "use it". If this is too "hard", then consult merchants, who can advise you. And then listen. And listen some more. Seems to me, with many of the decisions made, select LL staff have no idea at all, and we'd all be better off if they looked for employment in a field more suited to their expertise.
  2. Copy AND Transfer permissions are usually for items that are builders supplies - ie sculpties/animations some scripts. Textures are usually full permissions (modify copy AND transfer). So if the particular item you are talking about isn't copy and transfer, as was listed on the advert, and it's NOT a building supply, it's probably a mistake. A number of store owners I've found often don't tick the boxes in the Permissions section when they are posting (for various reasons - eg multiple objects with different permisisons), but usually the permissions will be seen somewhere else, like on their advert, or in the text. The reason store owners don't make general items copy and transfer, (for example, clothes) is because the next person can then give away/sell the item as many times as they like - essentially taking the business away from the creator. Of course, there are always cases where a store owner is making a particular item copy/transfer, but generally it's not the "norm". Without knowing which particular item you are referring to, its hard to comment. If it is a builder's supply type of item, then it was probably a mistake, and the store owner will be more than pleased that you have brought it to his/her attention.
  3. There's always a possibility they banned you by mistake, ie if someone has a similar name to you, or they were trying to click on someone else's profile, and accidentally got yours. With V2, and hovertext, I've noticed if you're in a crowded place, you can think someone is someone else, so you often need to "double-check". Some stores might ban you for : taking a photo in their store standing in one spot too long not responding to a "hi" IM they send rezzing prims in the store, and not picking up after yourself thinking you're a bot being a griefer, or perhaps even being in the vicinity of a griefer thinking you're an alt of someone (maybe who they banned) something you have in your profile advertising their Midnight Mania Board in a group being in a "private" area on their land any other reason Yes, it can be perplexing if you've been banned, and have no idea "why". I hope the store owner responds to your IM, so you can find out "why". (Edited for typo)
  4. Sorry, but It's only L$200. I've purchased a LOT of stuff that hasn't met my expectation. Its life. Just like in RL, where you buy an item of clothing, get it home, then never wear it. We all buy stuff at times that isn't what we thought it would be. And yes, often with SL clothing, if you're not a "standard" shape, or the shape that a prim item was made for, you do need to edit it, resize it, move it up/down to make it fit your shape/size.
  5. I had a Linden home - an A frame. The advantage of a Linden home, over an empty 512 lot (if you're wanting to put a house on it), is that you have 117 prims to play with to furnish your LL home. If you want to put a home on an empty 512 parcel, the prims you use to build that house count towards your 117 limit. That being said, I don't believe the parcel size of all the Linden homes are actually 512m or the same (correct me if I'm wrong). The usuability too of many of the homes, is quite restrictive. None of the more usable Meadowbrook homes were available when I was looking, so I opted for an A frame (Tahoe) design. I found my A frame somewhat claustrophobic, due to the angle of the walls. Essentially only the center of the home was really "useable" movement wise. Or the outside area. Some of the Elderglen style homes, you can't swing a cat in, and the Japanese themed homes I found laggy, with blury texturing. While the Meadowbrook homes are the best, from purely a movement perspective, the spaciousness also means decorating on a prim budget, is more difficult. Hence why many just have the "basics" and look "sparse". For what they are, LL homes are great for those Premium members wanting something simple and basic. Its a place to call home, and if you can find the style of home that really suits your purposes, its a great offer. My suggestion to LL would be to create more homes like the very popular Meadowbrook designs, not because people find them overly attractive, but because they are the most functional.
  6. SL is going downhill. I don't get it, as they want to bring the young kids in (13-15 year olds) for education purposes and yet the very time they intend to bring them in, they are bumping up educational land fees. How do high schools afford land tiers? Or is bringing the young kids in just an excuse, and one more step to erode the adult content from SL One person commented that the increase in prices may be to pay for the added security programming that is needed for the kiddies. If so, as she suggests, higher education facilities are going to lose out, just for the sake of a much smaller percent of high school kids, who could have gone elsewhere, as some higher education/non-profit organizations will now be forced to do. Seems LL has no idea of the process (and difficulty) of getting grant money, nor how it can be used etc. Yet LL won't increase the tier fees for the land barons, or those with grandfathered tiers. What makes these people more 'special' than the entire educational / non-profit community? Pity all the educational / non-profit organizations couldn't amalgamate, as a group they would have the same "pulling power" as these individual land barons, to get a reduction in their monthly tier, like the land barons do. Why can't the educational / non-profit organizations be grandfathered in at a comparative rate? It's not only the educational sims LL will be losing, but the associated Premium accounts. The education community has also created some amazing things over the years, and I'm guessing we can say goodbye to this also. LL certainly do know how to shoot themselves in the foot (or higher up it seems lately).
