  1. I just got a new Imac with Nvidia GT680MX graphics. With everything maxed in a busy setting and max draw distance, I get about 7 fps running Firestorm on Mac, and about 25 fps running same everything in Windows bootcamp. Huge difference. I wouldn't reboot for 30% performance difference, but 300%?
  2. For me, the problem with mesh is it runs counter to what (used to) make SL great: user made content. Sure, mesh is still user made content, but it is done out-of-world, with specialty tools and a high barrier to entry in terms of expertise and learning curve. And no, I don't see the just wait for 3D modelling tools to become easy to use and common place to be a good answer. A much better approach would have been to make better in-world building tools, prim based and other. There are a ton of ways, many already mentioned in this thread, that could be done to enhance the enjoyment and quality of in-world building. SL *itself* should have become the way to make 3D modelling tools easier to use and commonplace. Instead they punted and gave the ball to outsiders. Maybe the comments are true about "most people don't want to build, they just want to shop", but with mesh this is a tautology.
