  1. Personally, I love the way bitcoin transfers. If I could switch to btc instead of L$ for all my Second Life business, I would. I am so sick of the LL to Paypal then Paypal to bank transfer time. Btc transfers would be done in minutes. Plus, I don't have to jump through excessive hoops at every turn with Bitcoin like I do with anything related to USD.
  2. Have you tried Google DNS or OpenDNS? Using those DNS settings can fix a lot of stuff all at once. But, it is not something we should have to do to fix it forever. Something is wrong with LL's viewer until we no longer need the Google DNS or Opendns settings. http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
  3. It would make more sense if "Single click on land" would not activate if it's the avatar we're clicking & holding on. This click on land feature could (and seems like it should) be blocked when we aren't clicking on land, so people could enable it and still get expected action when they want to mouse turn their avatar and view.
  4. I know this is an unexpected way to fix what you're talking about, but this is it. Me, Preferences, Move & View, Single Click On Land, "No Action".
  5. I only get that problem with Phoenix including the latest one: 1.5.2 (1185), in Linux. I fix that with using older versions of the files in the llplugin folder. Other viewers which I do not have to fix are: Snowglobe, Singularity, Viewer 2, and Firestorm. What viewers are you trying? Which operating system?
  6. Mine is only a Sempron 2800+, and it logs in and views SL fine with several viewers: Viewer 2, Firestorm, Phoenix, Singularity and Snowglobe. I do have the ram banks packed though. The thing that's slow to me is the web browser built into the viewers, but I am getting the idea that is slow for everybody.
  7. Firestorm 3.0.1.22525 is working well here in Linux Ubuntu 11.04. The graphics adapter is an nVidia Geforce 8600.
  8. Using search through a browser is useless. I just tried it. Teleporting from search results while logged in with Viewer 2... I don't want to click through several things just to have a world map and a slurl that doesn't do anything when I click it. This is a disaster.
  9. that does work swifter than search using the viewer. This would be the direct link to bookmark for it, I think: http://search.secondlife.com/
  10. I'm not one to complain until something has been bothering me for a while. All of this web stuff is the slowest of anything I browse anywhere on the entire Internet. The search in Viewer 2 and the V2 tpv's which have to use it The marketplace These forums Web profiles Second Life's main web site The SL jira I do not have a slow system or slow ISP. The entire Internet is incredibly fast for me except everything by Linden Labs. Search (in the logged in viewer) must be choking SL's growth. Even typing in the text boxes has severely delayed cursor and backspacing. The cursor and backspace action is fine here on the forums but not in search through a logged in viewer. I'm not going to use a viewer where that is the only way to Search. Viewers which my experience and comparisons are coming from are: Viewer 2, Firestorm, and these Viewer 1.x's with old & fast search: Phoenix, Singularity and Snowglobe. Phoenix is still the main one I'm using. Out here on the forums, marketplace and other browsing, I'm using Firefox 6.0.1
  11. I hope you can get more than 512 mb of Ram in that computer. I'm keeping an eye on all this mysterious DNS stuff that's been happening with SL for a few months. Using Opendns settings fixed it for me, but I didn't need that in any other viewer besides Viewer 2. I'm expecting the next Firestorm will be the same way. I don't know of a fix besides adding dns settings such as Google Dns and Opendns, but I'm going to subscribe to see if someone does have a fix for what is happening with your system.
  12. She must have been logged in with Firestorm when showing the UsePieMenu debug setting. Firestorm does have it, and it has exactly the same description in Firestorm. As of August 9, The Viewer 2 a.Release, b.Beta regular and c.Mesh Project Viewer do not have that. Maybe it will be in Viewer 2 some day. It's not in there August 9th, 2011.
  13. Hello. See if the stuff I've written here helps. Basically, it's about entering DHCP and DNS settings which come from places like Google DNS, Opendns and your ISP supplies some of their own also. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-26422
